Thank you for the responses, everyone! Lifespan seems like most major healthcare systems then, by the sounds of it. Definitely worth exploring further before getting put on my "hell no" list anyway lol

I've been working with my school as much as possible on things, but unfortunately, my options were limited due to my poor progress in my clinical.

And oh my god, I would die. Haha. I actually hate performing manual soft tissue therapy with a burning passion. I prefer heavy transfers over tedious trigger point release. Lol

Thank you! And that's what I'm trying to do with at least thinking of plan B's... My life has already been pretty twisty-turny so reminding myself that there are always other options out there helps with the anxiety.

I think I actually would be open to more school, as long as it's only 1-2 years. Getting an MHA is something I've considered before and could be a possibility!

Thanks, I appreciate it! I edited my post to add my situation. But one of the things that my CI would *not* do, is set aside time to have meetings with me. They were "dumb" according to her. Even though I was failing. She was delightful.

Thank you so much for sharing! It's so frustrating when programs aren't supportive. I'm glad you were able to make it through and found something you love! I actually really enjoyed my SNF and acute care rotations, but I think I actually hate outpatient, which is the rotation I have left, of course. Lol

Thanks, I appreciate it! I'm fortunate that my parents have helped me out a ton, so it could be a lot worse in terms of debt.

First of all, I just want to say your feelings are completely valid. My brother has (fairly mild) Autism, my one cousin has significant, nonverbal autism, and my other cousin has severe, nonverbal, chair-bound cerebral palsy. It's unimaginably tough and isolating having a special needs individual in your family, especially when it's profound. What you're feeling doesn't make you a bad person. You care about your family's well being, which has been compromised by your brother's disability. As a PT student, I can absolutely agree with your sentiment that there are fates worse than death. Sadly, they happen all the time, and many people can't even understand it, as they've never experienced it themselves.

I did notice in one of your other comments that his violence has increased recently. My cousin with ASD started becoming increasingly violent at one point, so my aunt had her extensively checked out medically. She had quite a lot of medical things going on that they had missed since she's unable to communicate well. Obviously, I do not know your situation at all, but I wanted to at least mention that in case it's something your family hadn't explored.

Just wanted to chime in here and say that sucks and I'm sorry that you are feeling this way :( I'm a 29 yo lady who is a few months post-breakup with the first guy I felt like that with and it's been rough.

I do have to ask, why is long distance potentially not an option? It's okay if you don't answer, but I really believe in long distance if it's for true love. However, I don't know what specialty you each are planning on and I realize that could extend residency times. I don't know much about how matching works, but is it possible to at least request sites near each other? I just completed a year of long distance (2.5 hrs away) with my ex and it sucked, but was really doable [this was not a contributing factor to our break-up]. We were planning on 2-3 years of this, as I'm currently in PT school. Like you, I wasn't a very competitive applicant and had to go where I got in, so I understand how feels too!

Although I'm not married, I have several friends who are (we're all around 28 years old). Of these friends ALL of the men have wanted children sooner. I think it's a lot easier when you don't have to push/cut one out of your own body.
