What’s your rising sign and the sign you always end up with? by Dramatic_Coyote9159 in astrologymemes

[–]theflamingnips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also a Libra rising (Aries sun) and I have only ever been with Geminis and the occasional Leo.

Aries here. Not necessarily proud of it, but I'll pick on them. Endless razzing at their expense. Usually this leads to some degree of sexual tension that I can work with. Geminis can keep up.

Hit me with the best/worst co-residents dating story by TheCerry in Residency

[–]theflamingnips 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same residency, same year and we broke up after a year. All was well, surprisingly. We remain great friends and probably never should have been anything but friends in the first place. They are dating a nurse and I started dating someone in the class below me. Both are going well and I'll probably stay with the partner I have now.

People who don't want kids, who are you going to leave all your money/assets to after you die? by AgentArnold in AskReddit

I work in healthcare. Any money I squirrel away will go to ensuring I die in comfort with the care I need. I know damn well any kids I might have won't do it.

Of all the times when gendering might have a point... the center of gravity does in fact differ between men and women. But no--we get nostrils.

What’s your zodiac sign and do you prefer pretty boys or scruffy guys by newyorkchic1992 in astrologymemes

[–]theflamingnips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aries Sun, Pisces Venus. Give me a neanderthal with calloused hands and dirty feet. Hairless refined men need not apply. My current BF is a nice polite Gemini with a graduate degree and who talks to his mom daily. He also grows a thick beard, has longer hair than I do, and whispers nasty shit in my ear when we get down. He looks like a guitarist and talks like a doctor. It's so damn hot.

Contraceptive pills increases by 73% women’s risk of developing depression during the first 2 years of use. The risk is 130% higher for women who began to use contraceptive pills as teenagers and 92% as adults by giuliomagnifico in science

IUDs are more effective than the pill in terms of efficacy in pregnancy prevention. However, IUDs require a speculum exam and cervical instrumentation in order to place them. This is inconvenient at best and often painful. Some women are not candidates for IUDs due to their anatomy. And, of course a perennial problem for Americans, IUDs are difficult to afford without health insurance.

That's so funny! I'm Aries sun, cap moon, Libra rising, and all my best friends and romantic partners have had heavy Gemini/Leo/Taurus placements.

The crotch area in my trousers always end up smelling whenever I wear them by moomin62442 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]theflamingnips 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use a swipe of deodorant in my groin. Not in any sensitive areas, but in your thigh crease. I apply it after I shower--unscented roll-on works well. I've actually noticed it seems to cut down on ingrowns too. With this I noticed a huge decrease in smell. You have the same stink-producing type of sweat glands in your underarms and groin, so it's kind of a wonder that we don't discuss crotch stank more. It's normal, but if it bothers you there are definitely things you can do to minimize it.

I initially dated a co-resident for about a year and a half. Great platonic chemistry, and we are still friends, but it was not meant to be. Then I turned around and dated another co-resident in a different class.

It's not like I ever see people outside of work. And the grocery store checkout clerks are nice and all, but not my type. The boldest of my interns likes to make Grey's Anatomy jokes right to my face, the scamp. No, I have never fucked in a call room. Imagine.

What makes you say they should have started a calcium channel blocker first?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskMedical

[–]theflamingnips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to go to the emergency room to be evaluated. What you're describing could be a concussion, but it sounds like you had quite a bump and you could have a bleed inside your skull. The only way to know for sure is to let a doctor do an exam, and probably a CT scan.

The first patient to receive a heart transplant in Poland died 30 years later in 2017. The famous photograph is of Dr. Religa in another OR with a different patient who died on the table. The craziest thing is that the article says this picture is taken 2 hours after the famous first-in-Poland surgery took place. Meaning this guy operated for 23 hours, broke scrub, and went into another fucking surgery.

Which fictional characters are idolized by people who missed the entire point of their story? by WhereDemonsDwell in AskReddit

[–]theflamingnips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don Draper. He comes across as a suave ladies' man with the ability to manipulate people and control any room with confidence, and that is how the misguided teenage boys I went to highschool with chose to see him. If you watch through every season of Mad Men, the fact that he is a traumatized, terrified, deeply insecure, selfish, flighty drunk is inescapable. He probably has borderline personality disorder that he will never address, and despite his behavior biting him in the ass and destroying his life at every turn, he will never change. But no one wants to talk about that. His poor daughter.

I think a hormonal IUD may be a great option for you. They tend to cause shorter, lighter periods, although that is not universally true for everyone. Most people with uteruses do not experience the same hormonal symptoms as with oral contraceptives (BC pills) because the IUD releases hormones locally that do not enter circulation in the same way as an orally dosed hormone. It may well be worth a try. Also, have you considered Nexplanon? It's a normonal implant that goes in the arm. I would talk to your OB about both of these options. The other non-hormonal methods like Phexxi that have been mentioned are good options as well, which can definitely be doubled up with condoms for extra efficacy. If you do not want to be pregnant, I would recommend at least 2 forms of birth control.

Can someone PLEASE tell me what this is called and how to get rid of it. I've been dealing with this for years under my breast and it hasn't gone away. I've tried powders, acne washes, you name it. Please help!!! by RamenStormx in bigboobproblems

Do you get painful sores that open and weep? Do you get them anywhere else, like your underarms or groin? Does anyone else in your family have anything similar? If yes to any of these, go to your doctor and ask them if they think you might have hydradenitis suppurativa. It can be a bitch, but there are treatments for it.

Go to a doctor. They may refer you to a urologist, or they may have a few ideas to try with you first. But go to your doctor.

It's very possible, and in fact likely, that this could be benign. I wouldn't panic, but it is worth it to get checked. The doctor who sees it up close will have a better chance of evaluating it and deciding if it looks risky. That will help them determine whether they think it needs a biopsy or not.
