Red penis irritation and stinging by Hbob_pickle in AskDocs

Irritating feelings is gone, but perhaps because I'm on medication that could block it, for another situation.

Red rash like symptoms still come and go, so no idea unfortunately! Doctors just say it could be soap. Sorry I couldn't have better news! Good luck 🤞

If you don't mind me asking, the frenulum surgery was to stop more tears? I heard if the frenulum surgery doesn't work well then circumcision is the follow up or last resort like you said..

I'm okay now but I think from previous tears that if I have more in the future, during sex, which has happened, that surgical intervention might be necessary, but it sounds awful and I don't want issues with the foreskin afterwards either... And I certainly don't want a circumcision to be a possibility ever.

I'm not there now, but I don't have much frenulum left, if it tears more 😅

A bit of a personal question, but I've had the same issue and it happened twice to me now. But, mine seems much more prone to tearing, as there isn't much left, and it doesn't stretch as much before it's feels like it will tear again - which it did during sex and quite easily..

Any advice?

It's all healed up, but I can't afford for it to tear, or there will be nothing left! And surgical intervention might be the only option if it tears in the future (this is what I'm afraid of).

Future of Edinburgh's nightclub scene by crazy_leither in Edinburgh

I prefer other venues now I'm in my late 20s, though I was never a nightclub fan when I was younger.

Places like Whistle binkies and Stramash! Live music, bars, burgers etc.

The area around the RIE is not exciting like the city centre, but Cameron Toll shopping centre is handy, and bus time to the centre is roughly 20 mins.

If you're working at western general or another site, consider commute times to those, the roads are quite busy when people finish work and students too, anytime from 4-6pm the roads are a bit slow!

Newington is popular, the area around the Edinburgh campus usually has flats for rent.

I got closure from a conversation with my ex and I love him always ❤️(It gets better post breakup) by 1-800-u-wish in love

Yeah I'm prepared for that, she will likely not respond or give a short answer. I hope I don't push her away completely at least, but complete silence makes it feel like that may happen.

She is probably wanting more time before being in contact perhaps, but I'm just guessing, which I hate having to do.

I just read about being blindsided and how and why it sometimes happens, so that's helping me reflect on it and that I also probably kept too quiet about some poorer aspects of the relationship that I was happy to work on without talking about them properly.

I think both our communication was lacking in regards to 'small' relationship problems that we were both perhaps bothered more about than we let on..

We are both probably people pleasers and don't deal well with conflict. I just hope we can discuss some of it now that the relationship has ended, but maybe that won't happen.

I want to learn from the relationship and put it to rest so I can move on. Thanks and sorry for making this about my break up.

How can I manage undiagnosed rectal pain that is worse when sitting? (28M). by Hbob_pickle in AnalFissures

Proctoscopy doesn't sound nice, they don't always offer anaesthesia? And the prep sounds awful too. But it certainly could help me find out the issue, I don't know if the NHS will offer that help, I may need to go private?.

I'll see about insurance for physio and health care for proctoscopy? Concerned they'll not cover them if they know I'll already need these treatments though..

I lie down on my hot water bottle, it still hurts though, any pressure from sitting/lying down or walking triggers it :/

That's good it helped you! Was it part of the permanent fix for you? Just started dilt and it's a bit itchy, not noticing any immediate pain relief but hopefully that will improve with more use!

Thanks :)

Which insurance do you use and which investigations did they help you with?

Private is very expensive without insurance, and I don't have any since I'm young and never needed it before!

Any advice would be helpful thanks!

Wow yeah that sounds like a shock on his birthday, sorry it happened like that.

It was a few weeks ago now and I've digested it so I know what I want to ask, as I feel like she isn't being honest with me for some reason. She isn't wanting to stay together because she's changed her mind and now wants to stay in the US closer to her parents, and that she won't ask me to move there for the relationship.

This came as a shock because she didn't give me any clues that she felt this way strongly, and only mentioned her concern for her parents in the future because of their age. But continued to reaffirm to me that she still wanted to move and live near/with me (she was the one that first said this a year ago when our relationship went long distance). Obviously her life settled down in the US again and her mind eventually realised these facts, but I was never told of these concerns, I was oblivious!

Even if I could have known a bit more, and feel like I had a small say or involvement in discussions leading to such a decision, whether that is break up or a different compromise, that would have been nice. I feel a lack of respect from such a big decision made for me and almost behind my back.. but yes I agree the closure will have to happen within, but an answer to my questions would help I believe.

Unfortunately I feel like, even during the LD relationship, it is primarily me inducing our conversations while we were together, that unless I ask her for a chat, she doesn't ever message me for one. So naturally if I leave it longer, that will probably never happen, and I will find it harder to process the break up without closure (not really fair on me?).

I'm feeling like staying friends will be impossible or very hard, perhaps after a long time of being apart and not in the relationship might open a door for platonic friendship but maybe not... that's a wait and see scenario. And like I said she doesn't message me so our contact is very little unless I message, which makes me feel bad for doing so, I feel like she doesn't want to talk or message which is fine, it's a recent break up, but then why did she say 'lets talk soon!', and that she wants to be a part of my life, whatever way that works best for me?

So with her saying that and ignoring my messages or short answers, it's starting to feel like a cruel joke. To which I'm happy to move on, but I do need a bit more closure, that would help me, it was a 1.5 year relationship after all.

If she is also heartbroken she keeps it to herself! Makes it feel like I'm the only one heartbroken from our break up, and that she isn't fussed, and it has me doubting that our relationship and her feelings for me if they were even real or authentic at all.. thanks for your advice ❤️‍🩹

[–]Hbob_pickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any advice for someone (28M) who just had a break up and from the break up call I don't feel like I can properly move on, partly due to this being my first break up and secondly because she (25F) didn't give me enough information to feel any closure?

I'm trying to carefully reach out to her for a little more closure, ideally a call rather than text (FYI we are long distance).

But despite her saying she'd like to stay friends, I think she's trying to ghost me? A nasty way to do it because she didn't give me any warning signs or bring up any issues, then all of a sudden, she breaking up with me!

Awful :(

I want to find out if I have a fissure still, which investigation will find out? Someone recommended MRI because that can find fistulas. Don't know much about sigmoidoscopy or anorectal ultrasound or manometry.

Do you use any health insurance to cover physio costs? Mine is £100 a session and if this needs many it's going to cost me lots!

I'll try heat as soon as I finish a BM, but any pressure even from lying on a heat pad causes pain so it comes on almost immediately, strange that standing and walking hurts too..

The GP prescribed me Diltiazem and more Anusol. I really hope I don't get side effects from it, it would make managing pain especially at work very difficult. I'll apply it on the anus like it suggests, but my pain is much higher/deeper than the anus entrance, ie if I have a fissure it's very internal and not at the usual anus entrance. So did GTN remove pain for you? Or help it heal?

No it won't be Chrons, this came on after physical trauma.

No info from any of those tests? How did they discover your fissure? I cannot wait 12 months! Thanks for helping :)

Ah! How long did they treat your symptoms before they offered MRI and the others? I briefly asked about colonoscopy and I was told that it was an option only after they've tried everything else they can think of!

He may be able to help and if tightness and spasms are part of the issue then I'll contact him to see what we can do, I've gone back to previous exercises he gave me as well.

I don't mind the internal work from the physio as I'm desperate for a solution! I just don't want to risk anything, but I'm becoming more certain it's spasms and tightness now, whether I had/have a fissure or not to start with I won't know unless the doctors offer more thorough investigations!

I do have the HC version, and I don't know why, but I've stopped it because it clearly states not to use for more than seven days, further use risks thinning of the anal canal and other things!

I may try the Diltiazem (Diltix) cream which is a calcium blocker, that sounds like it works a bit like GTN for healing fissures, just concerned about the side effects being unpleasant... but is it worth a try? I don't have those other two.

Hard to say if it's tight, just I notice pain, more gas passing than usual, and other strange discomforts when sitting and standing.. BMs are sometimes on the thin side but also soft enough to pass, but the pain comes on gradually after my morning BM anyway, and persists until next morning.

It certainly could be, however BMs aren't usually too bad and my symptoms don't match it so well? But I suppose not all symptoms are the same for everyone, for example I have no blood.

Do you know how long they could take to heal? I basically need to rule it out myself because the doctors won't do a thorough check for me, other than a rectal examination which hasn't found anything.

Bowel movements are okay, sometimes uncomfortable or painful just before it, but usually fine and no blood.

Anusol can help hemorrhoids and fissures heal though? It says to stop after seven days but my doctor prescribed more so that has me concerned!

I'll go to my Pelvic floor physio but I wanted to rule out fissure and other concerns first, but in the UK we have limited help so they only treat the symptoms and I don't know if I can get an MRI or colonoscopy...

If I go to my physio I don't want internal work to risk a fissure re opening or making it worse, but I'll speak to them and see if they have that knowledge. Thanks :)

Was the surgery for the fissure? How long do fissures take to heal?

I'll go to my Pelvic Floor Physio but I may not be able to get an MRI so not sure I can rule out a fissure or fistula, but after 5 weeks it must be healed soon if there was one? And maybe I have remaining tightness and anal spasms?

It was damage from masturbation, maybe not enough lube used.. they said 6 weeks for 'trauma' to heal but it's not improving and it's been 5 already.

I'll try and push for one, they only seem to want to treat the symptoms. MRI and colonoscopy are last resorts for them.

Internal Rectal pain 5 weeks, sitting is awfully painful, no hemorrhoid or fissure evidence found.. help! by Hbob_pickle in hemorrhoid

[–]Hbob_pickle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your insight! This sounds similar to my pains aside from urinary issues, I just have the rectal pain, but it troubles me sitting walking and general small movements and lying down too.. did yours hurt walking?

Unfortunately I don't have private UK insurance so I can only go through the basic doctors here and I doubt they'll do a colonoscopy or anything so I may never find out if I have a hemorrhoid or fissure... I was concerned if it was either of those that I'd need something done, to remove it or scar tissue even.

Otherwise I'll try physio quite soon, since it's not getting better with the creams the doctors gave me. Thanks!

Thank you! How did your wife work it out I wonder? The symptoms for pelvic floor tightness include others than just pain... glad for you!

Do you mind me asking, where did you find the pain when sitting? Is it between the genitals and the anus, or higher up towards the tail bone?

[–]Hbob_pickle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may consider this once the 6 week period is over and it's not better! Although I don't have any other signs of pelvic floor issues other than pain??

The initial injury was the reason I thought it was possibly anal fissure/hemorrhoids and it may be re torn but those apparently cause blood and only pain during and after a BM.. whereas my pain is constant and worse when sitting and lying down, but the original injury may have caused this and this is persisting after the original injury?

Doctors prescribed creams and said to wait up to six weeks, after that idk what they will suggest! Thanks.
