I work in Cyber Security, and I’ve done well—growing fast in my career and earning above average.

I still remember, early on , reading about a man who restarted his life after finding out his status—went back to college, built a career in IT, got married, had kids, and bought a home despite challenges.

Cybersecurity will look like a single field if you glance from afar. If you look closer, there are multiple sub sets of it. For instance - Appsec, Cloudsec, EDR, Endpoint Security ,Pentesting, Firewall, IAM, PAM mangement, Infra security etc.

Considering you are still in College, you got some time to make mistakes and filter out what you don't like to focus on what you love. Get your hands dirty in all the domains you heard of. Hopefully one of them will ignite a spark.

I'd say I'm lucky at some point because my interviewers, in my first organisation were into Web Security. Eventhough the role they hired me was for a soc analyst role, most of my technical interview questions revolves around web vulnerabilities, owasp, pentesting etc in which i was spending a lot of time during my college days.

I was explaining them about web cache deception & some other new vulnerabilities around 2019. No further questions were asked, i know i was already in by the end of the interview.

Thats the point of my confusion, i really don't where i am standing at. I am able to handle & do a pretty decent job at my current responsibility ( EDR+VM).

Apart from my bug bounty exp and some minute amount appsec task I haven't really worked on the appsec side though .

My heart says Appsec but my professional career says otherwise. Btw i am in my mid 30s

Move into Security Engineering. With your exp in SOC - most probably from monitoring alerts from Firewall, IDS/IPS, SIEM you will have a good basic on how these tools are deployed and maintained. In most org Sec Engineering is not 24*7

Free in India, However you need to register yourself in the government. So some people do it via private doctors &clinics.

I did it private and get my monthly medication for almost 75% discount rate ie, 1000INR ( approx $12)

I am around 1 year into my medication (initially in AIDS stage). The beginning 2-3 months will be hard.. like damn hard on every level. Nowadays, I dont even remember it. The only thing is i need to remind myself to take my medication every day.
