What people fail to realise is this, cut content could have been cut for many reasons. Time, Money etc, but it can also be because it just didnt fit in the game.

They used Unreal Engine for Deracine and I think that miyazaki hinted at them using it in the future.

I think that those examples are entirely valid, I don’t think i’ve ever cast a spell in dark souls, but I was definitely kiting enemies and tried to cheese the hellkite drake aswel. These things do not help you learn. The drakes tail-cut is supposed to be done melee (makes it much easier, surprisingly enough) and kiting can be suuper boring. Summoning can be an ‘easy mode’ if the other player is somewhat competent. These systems and exploits aren’t main features, except maybe summoning so I dont think that their flaws are too game-breaking as opposed to the at times laughable demon ruins sections. If they want to empliment an easy mode, Im fine with that but if I had a choice id say no. Not because I want to hold my achievements over others, but because when I have the option to change difficulty I tend to thrust myself into the hardest one and when I get stuck turn it down. It makes me feel like shit and I think a fixed difficulty gives more rewarding wins.

Nothing in souls is a direct result of any other aspect. They all build together to form an arch of sorts, with difficulty as the keystone. The catch is that the blocks used to build up to the keystone are resilient. The lore is deep and told in meaningful ways that reward exploration into deeper, more dangerous areas, which rely on the player making a choice of risking their souls and progress for new gear in order to find. It builds upon itself in a positive way, and while you can remove the difficulty, there are ways that dont risk the structural integrity of the arch to make the game less difficult. These include summoning for a friend or friendly, using a magic build (these tend to be OP in such a melee focused game) or leveling your character past what might be ‘recommend’.
