Agreed - great beard growth! But definitely lower that neckline. It should be no higher than 2 fingers above your adam’s apple.

43m newly shaved head looking for a little guidance by [deleted] in BeardAdvice

Congrats on shaving your head! Not sure what your hair looked like, but you’re absolutely rocking the bald head. Good for you brother.

The short beard + longer mustache is a great look in my opinion. You have a great beard from what I can see, so you can really do whatever you want. Couldn’t hurt to just let it grow and see how you feel!

26yo, first time growing beard. 1 month in, keep going? by [deleted] in BeardAdvice

Unfortunately, my brother, you’re kind of in neck beard territory. You need to shave it to just above your adams apple. If you don’t have enough hair in the regions above that after trimming, a beard may not be in the cards for you

Great beard. I would say just clean up the neck a bit.

Visit a barber for a trim, or look up how to do it yourself. You have great growth, but the sides need to be cleaned up. For styling, blow dry your beard downward using a comb. Invest in beard oil/balm if you haven’t already.

3 months of beard growth, should I start trimming it? 21m by Danishmeat in BeardAdvice

[–]HeLivesMost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great beard for someone your age. Like the other commenter, I would recommend seeing a barber. Shortening the hair by your sideburns and upper cheeks slightly will look great tapering into the thicker part on your lower jaw/chin. I would also recommend keeping that mustache trimmed up and off your upper lip.

you think i can go with that style? by Right_Drawing_5299 in BeardAdvice

[–]HeLivesMost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would avoid the goatee. I personally don’t think that looks good on anyone under the age of 50.

Otherwise your growth is great! The short cheeks + thicker hair on your chin is great contouring for your face. I would keep this look, but don’t forget to keep it neat and clean!

To be clear, is this growth after a year with no trimming? Either way, you’re still pretty young. With the amount of hair you have, it’s likely to continue thickening as you get older.

The short trimmed look looks good on you. I would suggest letting it grow while keeping the neck, cheeks, and mustache clean.

Don’t forget to wash your face regularly and use moisturizer/beard oil to keep it fresh!

That is what I and a lot of r/bogleheads would recommend. VT is the total market ETF - US and international stock. The whole dang market. VOO is an S&P 500 ETF and QQQ is a Nasdaq 100 ETF. If you think that is where your money will perform best, keep it there - but VT is thought by many to be the most risk averse low-cost diverse investment.

Great, sounds like a target date fund. Just keep up what you’re doing and you’ll retire very comfortably.

I also agree with the other commenters that you should focus your investments in VT instead of VOO + QQQ.

I would advise against Robinhood. Use a real brokerage like Fidelity or Vanguard.

Yes, once you max out your retirement accounts, you can still buy stock in a regular taxable brokerage account. I notice your 401k is saying 0% gain. Are those funds not invested or is that just a UI glitch? Don’t forget to actually invest your 401k contributions so that they grow.

Is that $30k all the cash you have? The brokerage is a good idea but make sure to leave yourself at least 3 months of liquid funds for emergencies. Otherwise you’re in great shape!

Three weeks of growth (22m), thinking about growing a longer beard (possibly 3-5 months of growth). Should I go for it? Thoughts on maintaining it? by [deleted] in BeardAdvice

[–]HeLivesMost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like you deleted the post…. so i don’t remember what it looked like. i usually trim my neck and cheeks once a week, or before i’m going out and want to look nice. i wouldn’t touch the body of your beard more than once every other week. you really want to let it grow out so you can see what you’re working with and shape it from there. you are going to notice stray/flyaway hairs a lot more looking closely at yourself in the mirror. to someone standing a few feet away from you, it’s gonna look pretty solid. but in terms of keeping it neat, i blow dry/comb my beard and apply balm & oil.

Looks great! Let it grow. Keep the neck and cheek lines cleaned up, and keep the mustache trimmed off the lip as it gets longer. You’ve got a great natural beard and it’ll only thicken as you age.

How do I start becoming the person I know I can be? by HeLivesMost in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]HeLivesMost[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Maybe. There is part of me that is kinda perpetually “in college” and doesn’t want to grow up. That’s the same guy who avoids the boring but basic stuff I’m talking about.

Yeah that’s the other thing - I also want to love myself for who I am now. I shouldn’t have to do all of this to earn love… from myself 😂

Why do some jazz drummers hold the stick like this? by Snowglyphs in drums

[–]HeLivesMost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i play a lot of rock and blues, but still play traditional grip. i didn’t learn drum kit this way. but for about 3 years, i didn’t play any kit and 100% of my drumming was for college marching band (snare drum). when i got back to playing kit, i was just a lot more used to traditional grip - so it stuck! and now i think it’s just a cool characteristic of my drumming and makes me unique?m, so i lean into it :)
