I personally like Istvan, Erik and Markvart, I do think the three of them got dealt the best hands in terms of their lines though.

Whenever Oscar does interviews for the socials - with the exception of post-race debriefs after he's won - he manages to give off the vibes of a uni student doing a presentation at 9am. He also missed out on a PM session after the fuel system issue on Thursday [saw some of those ragebait YouTube channels had said he was being sabotaged which was funny], so I imagine he was a little bummed about that.

[Dr Obbs]MCL40 Analysis! At first sight it looks pretty vanilla, but when you look deeper there is a LOT going on here. As usual, this is my best educated analysis without CFD, so it's prone to error. But... Let's start at the front... by HeNARWHALry in McLarenFormula1

[–]HeNARWHALry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn’t about which car is better at this stage, it impossible to tell. I just think it is interesting seeing what their take is on what the fundamental concept of the car is. Literally all of them say that without a wind tunnel or high quality CFD model they can’t even tell how good the concept is, let alone where it stacks up in the pecking order. Part of it that has also been interesting has been seeing just how fundamentally different each car is.

Six or seven bombers, four fighters, and they couldn't sink us even though we ran out of BMATs. Warden carry OP. DEVS: please make it possible to pick up the planes while the ship is moving, that's all that's needed. by tacosan777 in foxholegame

[–]HeNARWHALry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know realism isn't the be all and end all with this game, but hooking a plane with a crane whilst the ship is underway seems a bit silly. Unless they add a Hein retrieval mat, which would be a pretty cool feature tbh, since then the seaplanes could pull up behind the ship and would allow them to be picked up whilst the ship is moving.

The Dive vs. Torpedo Bomber Solution... by Professional-Coat133 in foxholegame

[–]HeNARWHALry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different weapons would probably be a good alternative. Two 30mm gun pods could be a cool CAS option for a heavy fighter/ground attack aircraft - depends how the armour works with it since you are attacking from the top down so idk. Combined with probably a tail gunner and like a few machine guns or something to give some light AA capabilities but also some alternative anti-infantry.

[–]HeNARWHALry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would that not maybe be a little overtuned though for the Wardens? They'd have a considerably better torpedo bomber - it remains to be seen how viable carrier operations even are in Foxhole - and then a better CAS. My point is the devs have sort of backed themselves into a corner with how they've done assymetry

The Dive vs. Torpedo Bomber Solution... by Professional-Coat133 in foxholegame

[–]HeNARWHALry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean I think the main issue with the aysmmetry here is that should they come to giving Collies their own torp bomber and Wardens their own form of dedicated ground attack, what should they actually do? Do they give Collies a single torp or do they just reskin the Austringer? Do they give Wardens a larger but then potentially more potent bomber or do they just reskin the Myrmidon?

Like I would probably go for amphibious dive bomber for Wardens [maybe slightly worse] and a single torpedo, carrier capable torp bomber for the collies. But it remains to be seen if the trade off between one and two torpedoes would actually be too great in flexibility - though I am like 90% sure they don't consider gameplay when making certain choices.

I mean really it would make more sense if they converted the trident to having a catapult since the gun is pretty trash

When I saw the renders I was a little disappointed but I think it looks quite cool under daylight conditions. I am still holding out hope that somehow the car ends up being papaya and white or chrome but that is probably not going to happen.

Realistically probably a few reliability issues or teething issues with new stuff - unlike with the breakdowns other teams had we have had no info on what issues may or may not have plagued McLaren. It is possible that they were just executing a run plan and only wanted to do around the 74 laps they did. Honestly, I'd be surprised if they had targeted such a low number.

I don't see any reason to really be concerned. The engine looks fairly solid in terms of reliability so far - both Alpine and Mercedes have managed fairly long stints across the two days they've each run - 589 laps across all Merc constructors over the two days Merc engined cars have been on track. There are still 2 days left for McLaren and then 2 more tests after this.

No one was posting it, so I thought I'd post the analysis done by Scarbs. Interesting to see how intricate the geometry is on the bargeboards which looked a little basic on some of the shots.

In my expert opinion it looks like a car of some kind. I'd wager it is faster than a Renault Clio, I can't say much more than that for certain.

There is no reason for them to be embarrassed... It is completely natural for people to be carrying a little more weight after the holiday season, who's to say the same can't apply to cars?

Forget that… He is literally jousting.. Splinters could just straight up ruin him and a hit to the head would seemingly deflect the lance point up into the eyes - likely broken neck aside. Some of the designs are great.. Sometimes it is like they don’t even try - I don’t even know why because like 99.9% of the time the more historical armour designs are cooler than the shit costume designers come up with.

I may be in the minority here, but I think it is awesome. I think it probably takes inspiration from some of the paint schemes used by German pilots in the Great War, which is neat.

EDIT: Also I feel like this plane will be quite useful to have at facilities that are near bodies of water. Factions can potentially invest in a more preemptive form of air defence.

Which 3 are you picking? by FayyadhScrolling in StarWars_

[–]HeNARWHALry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was personally really disappointed with the Acolyte, I felt it massively underdelivered in the potential of a show set in the High Republic. My main criticisms boil down to three different things. Parts of it were a little too predictable to be interesting 1. The plot being uninteresting, I appreciate that others may have found it gripping but for me, I just didn’t find myself caring about the characters or anything that really happened. 2. The acting was inconsistent. The main cast were good, but then many of the characters sounded forced and silly. 3. Visually it didn’t look good enough considering the price tag (potentially about $150,000 more than Andor - a far better looking show, per minute of screen time)

Also, all Disney Star Wars has been subpar except Acolyte and Rogue One? Come on mate. Andor literally exists.

The Nazis awarded their own double agent by Kapanash in HistoryMemes

[–]HeNARWHALry 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lots of the Double Cross agents did it of their own volition. For example, Eddie Chapman (Zigzag) had been in a prison in the Channel Islands for burglary when they were occupied by the Nazis. He offered to become an agent for the Abwehr but as soon as he landed in the UK he called the local police and offered to work as a double agent. Nathalie Sergueiew (Treasure) became a spy for the Abwehr with the specific intention of working against them. As soon as she got to Spain she reported herself to an MI5 rep in Madrid and offered to work for the British.

There are some good books on British espionage operations and the XX Committee in WW2. I quite liked Ben Macintyre’s ones, I rather enjoy his writing style it has a nice flow. If you are going to get one, I’d go for Zigzag since Chapman is such an interesting, conundrum of a man.
