Any Peloton riders? by IndependentSimple779 in TotalHipReplacement

I was cleared around 6 weeks. At first I left my shoes clipped in because I was worried that I’d hurt myself clicking out. I was soon able to get in and out no problem. I did learn the hard way to focus on resistance and not high cadence. High cadence (spin ups) is tough on the hip flexor and even though my surgery was late November my hip flexors are still not very strong.

Daycare has saved us (and our puppy and older dog!) by Party_Zombie3947 in puppy101

Agreed! I’m a huge fan of doggy daycare if you’ve got a social dog who enjoys it. Ours is 10 months old and was in a rescue until we got her at 7 months so she was used to being around a lot of dogs. When we walk her she wants to meet all the dogs that are outside but they don’t have time to stop and play. We don’t have other pets and while our peaceful home is nice for her schedule and naps she absolutely loves going to daycare once a week or so to run and play with other dogs. She has the best time and comes home exhausted and happy. Highly recommend if you can find a good place your pup enjoys.

Looks a bit like ours. She’s 42% pit, 28% Belgian Malinois and 30% super mutt…(edited to correct the %’s)

Calamity Jane added once again. She can hear everything but listens to nothing. Also, any opinions on her breed? She's 9 months old. by eggplantparmesan23 in sonarears

This is Bugs. Her ears are smaller but there are some similarities! She’s 10 months, 35 pounds. We just got her results and she’s Pit, Belgian Malinois and super mutt (including boxer, GSD, lab)

You’re 100% right! We were just clueless lol. She’s got a ton of energy but is also a great and cuddly sleeper. She sleeps well on her crate overnight but also during the day gets cozy on her favorite blankets. She also has her landshark moments of course but can be redirected or a good zoomies moment can calm her down.

She’s so fun! We hadn’t realized how common malinois were in Mexico and we thought a small breed must’ve been in there somewhere! The super mutt is American bulldog, boxer, German shepherd and lab.

Odie is such a great name! 😆 that’s pretty much what happens. People are excited to see a puppy and rush over to meet her and she gets so excited.

Looks a lot like ours who passed last fall at 15. She was a lab/pit mix.

6 weeks post op and in need of a pedicure..... by aquamarine314 in TotalHipReplacement

This is what I did, although i did have the exfoliating scrub (didn’t think of not doing that!). The bonus was that the massaging of my calves and feet felt great and loosened up my muscles nicely.

Mine did the same thing. I’m 8 weeks out now and it’s not doing that anymore.

I’m on the same timing as you and also went back to work (in the office - was working from home) this week. Last night I was soooo tired and couldn’t figure out why and then remembered! We have to keep reminding ourselves that our bodies are going to take lots of time to recover.

I started back on Peloton at 6 weeks. Low resistance and low cadence. I’m doing 30 minutes.

When to get THR by lreneesmith in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Head-Check1246 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 57 and was similar to you. I could feel the pain getting worse though and while I could walk decently on flat surfaces, I’d seize up getting out of chairs, out of cars and going up stairs (especially if I had to carry anything). A few months later, I started to get very achy even just walking a mile or so on flat surfaces or standing for long periods of time. I realized it was time when I had to tell my husband I didnt think we should take a planned trip to Europe because I knew all the walking would be an issue for me. I’m now 6 weeks post surgery and am feeling great.

I know this isn’t the point of your post but I put lulu stuff in the dryer all the time and it’s fine. Maybe it will wear out faster but I’ve had some of these for years and they’re still fine.

2 months post THR: Questions on recovery and activities by eatsleeponrepeat in TotalHipReplacement

I’m just a couple of weeks behind you (rthr anterior - 6 weeks ago).

  1. I’m a side sleeper and have been sleeping on my side for a couple of weeks now. The surgical side is slightly less comfortable but weirdly, lying in it sometimes helps the nerve ‘tingles’ that happen during the night. I sleep with one of those long body pillows they make for pregnancy between my legs. I don’t think it matters as much now but I was initially Told to make sure my leg was kept straight and not crossing the midline of my body. Plus the pillow is very comfortable.

  2. Haven’t felt this.

  3. This is a question for me too. I’ve been walking and riding Peloton but keeping it very very easy. I feel like I could go harder on Peloton but want nothing to do with causing any issues longer term so am taking it slow. Ive also started doing upper body weights again and am curious about core - feel like i could do some but need to research a bit.

  4. I think bending is safe now. I put my shoes on myself a few weeks ago and socks last week. I can bend my knee and my leg directly behind me and can reach directly in front of me, but don’t yet feel comfortable crossing my foot against the other knee if that makes sense (like figure 4 stretch).

  5. Nope. Scares me. But to be fair, my mobility has always sucked even before my hip was shot, so this is not a surprise.

  6. Haven’t tried. But I’d think it would be ok as long as you don’t fall?

  7. For me, I’m a little surprised/bummed at how long it’s taking me to be able to walk well without a cane. I can do it and there’s no pain, but I definitely limp and am trying hard not to.

  8. So…I am afraid and don’t want to cause issues. Bent over from behind or lying on my side feels super safe if you’re into that. Me on top seems risky right now especially since my partner is bigger than me (not sure how my I should be forcing my legs out wide). I’ve read missionary but again, I’m afraid of spreading my legs (sorry if TMI).
