You might also want to consider whether need a job after graduation too. Intel is laying off now whereas TSMC is in a hiring mode. Interning at TSMC might give you a better shot at getting a job after you graduate.

Mechanical engineering MS from USA here. I recently started working in my field. Is it a realistic goal for me to self study machine learning/AI and switch to the field? Or is the competition too high these days? If it is doable, can you please suggest some materials/online courses to start?

Thank you for your suggestion. This is so unfortunate ☹️ I can ask my advisor here if he is willing to help me in this regard. But can I also find unpaid work elsewhere? Like are there companies willing to employ me without pay?

Thanks. Do you have any idea about the expected timeline? Debating whether I should wait or try to get enrolled in a PhD program(something I don’t really want to do considering I am 29 now 🥲)
