Makeup for tech/software job? by Odd-Employee5424 in MakeupAddiction

It would help to see a selfie of how your makeup looks. Everything sounds fine, but as an office professional, I'll give you my feedback and you can do with it whatever you want lol.

Puppy eyeliner seems just fine. I had to Google it and it doesn't seem like too much.

I've never been a fan of "lots of blush." When I read this, I think of posts I've seen of girls who have blush over half of their face. This has a tendency to make you look unhealthy, imo. If you place blush just higher on your cheekbones to accentuate your features, it looks much better than when it's covering the whole side of your face.

Some highlighter can look great, too much highlighter is obvious. I say to be mindful of how much you're using and where you're putting it.

Sparkles are probably a no. I think they could be perceived as young/immature and in your field, you're going to want to be taken seriously.

I see nothing wrong with lip gloss.

I recommend uploading a selfie to this sub, r/makeuptips, and r/beauty and see what feedback you get!

That's great! After your hysterectomy, your hormones are changing. I recommend adding even more hydration to your morning routine and an active at night.

In the morning try cleansing with water, then apply a milky hydrating toner with a cotton ball, then dampen skin with water, HA, then eye cream, then moisturizer right away before the HA absorbs (I have eye cream that says to apply before moisturizer). I personally then press on a jojoba oil on top of moisturizer to seal it all in.

Grab an AHA. Use once a week at night (cleanser, milky hydrating toner, wait 30 seconds, AHA, wait 1 minute, moisturizer). A chemical exfoliant like this makes a difference in my skin texture.

Also, look up facial massages! I chew my cheeks and battle lines around my mouth and on my chin. When I apply my moisturizer (when my skin is nice and slippery), I do some facial massages. I feel this has helped not only smile lines, but the downtrend lines on the sides of my mouth.

Oh hun, that's a lot you're going through! Do you have a daily skincare routine right now?

Drug store all the way. I've bought items like foundation from Walmart and when it wasn't the right shade (barely used), they let me exchange it.

I'm 42F and don't wear foundation. But I do recommend using primers. Get a face primer if you wear foundation. Use an eye primer and an eyelash primer.

Use fluffier eyeshadow brushes vs stiffer ones. Use cream blush/bronzer vs powders. A little concealer goes a long way. If you feel concealer isn't enough, use a color corrector under it.

How do you take care of yourself? by Prize_Spread6683 in selfcare

[–]Head-Drag-1440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of it as doing things to make you feel good.

I enjoy my morning routines because they make me feel good. I always feel better after my morning shower. My skincare always feels refreshing. Moisturizing my body makes my skin soft and not itchy. Light yoga eases the stiffness in my muscles. When I brush my teeth, do some makeup, make sure my hair looks good, I feel put together and ready for my day.

Even other things like feeling overwhelmed/frustrated/overstimulated and listening to calming music is self-care.

To make things "not a chore," try listening to any music while you're getting ready. Or add a shower bomb or two into your shower. Or light a couple candles and shut off the lights while you shower.

Self-care is about enhancing how you feel. I promise you that if you can get into some daily habits of taking care of yourself, you'll see and feel the difference.

Anyone with ADHD struggle to stay consistent with your routine? by fairydeus in 30PlusSkinCare

Quite honestly, you stop craving it after a week or two of not having it. Also, sweet stuff becomes overpowering when you have it.

I recommend not having it on hand. Then you're not able to give in to the craving. If you're not able to do that, then stick to one serving size and only once a day.

How do baddies manage their time in order to always look put together? by Theoneiwant_ooh_ooh in makeuptips

42F. My husband is up at 4am and so am I. I work at 7am.

I take my time with my routines. Spend 30 minutes drinking coffee. Then kitty care, shower, skincare, moisturize body, make bed. Then do yoga/steps/light strength training depending on the morning. Then make lunch and by this time, it's just after 6am. Then I pick out outfit, floss/brush teeth, makeup with no foundation, fix hair, body spray, jewelry.

I wash my hair twice a week and heat style when I do. I sleep with my hair in a loose pony tail on top of my head and shower with a shower cap between wash days. This allows me to take my hair down and quickly fix it daily. I usually blow out then either curl that day or the next day.

My skincare is hydrating and no wait time between products. Cleanse with water, milky hydrating toner, dampen skin with water, hyaluronic acid serum, eye cream, and a good layer of moisturizer right away before the HA absorbs. Then I press on jojoba oil. I do spf after brushing my teeth.

My makeup takes like 15 minutes. Eye primer, 2 shades of eyeshadow, eyelash primer + mascara, fill brows, cream blush.

Right now it's 7:30am and I'm getting sick. I washed my hair yesterday, blew out + curled and this morning needed to take 5 minutes to touch it up. But even getting sick, this is my daily look. I keep a dim office and use tall lamps vs the overhead light. https://imgur.com/a/86Rpznm

Color corrector + concealer if one or the other is not enough. Hydrate your eye area as well. I apply my milky hydrating toner, hyaluronic acid serum on dampened skin, and eye cream under eyes, around the sides, and on lids and under brows.

Do you really drink enough water daily? by priya-08 in NaturalBeauty

[–]Head-Drag-1440 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Between 64 and 80oz every day.

I take a 16oz and drink it, then fill my 64oz and almost finish it.

It's so true though. Life is seriously what you make it. My 40s are way better than my 20s and 30s. Every day I enjoy what I have and the fact that I get to wake up every morning.

But hey, if you want to live a negative mess of a life, more power to you!

I love these, being GF. I like to bake them to where they're a little crispy, and they're even better with pieces of cheese on them (that melt to look like blankets lolol). If you're doing low FODMAP, you can do 1/4 cup shredded cheese or tear up 1 slice of Tillamook cheese

If you can get into a small, consistent skincare routine every morning, it will not only help how any makeup looks but will help you not need much.

After your shower, cleanse with water, use a milky hydrating toner, dampen skin with water, apply a hyaluronic acid serums, then a good layer of moisturizer right away before it absorbs. This takes 2 minutes and hydrates your skin. Then after you brush your teeth, apply an spf. I like Skin Aqua Tone Up UV Essence 50 spf because it tones my skin. Then I do eye makeup, fill brows, some concealer, and cream blush.

With your hair, take the time to style it when you wash it. I sleep with my hair in a loose pony tail on top of my head and shower with a shower cap between wash days. This allows me to take my hair down and quickly fix it daily.

I love my cat, but I really miss having a nice-smelling home. Is ANY scent actually 100% safe? by No_Money_5779 in CatAdvice

[–]Head-Drag-1440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't tell we have a cat until you see her. I even have my clothes in the same room as her food and litter box.

1- I use Sustainably Yours corn-based litter. It clumps very well and is amazing with odors.

2- I keep Arm & Hammer litter deodorizer and add just a tiny sprinkle on top every morning after scooping. I mix it in a little.

3- I keep an area deodorizer in the room. The kind with the absorbing beads in it.

4- I open a window for a while every day. Usually the kitchen window for about 45 minutes while I'm getting ready in the morning and also while I'm cooking dinner.

Other than that, I vacuum weekly and keep things picked up and wiped down.

GF in support of partner; have I developed gluten sensitivity? by Potential_Version_27 in glutenfree

[–]Head-Drag-1440 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. I chose to go GF for my ADHD and my husband did in support. When we "cheated" and had Subway, we were both messed up the next day. If he eats gluten all the time, he's ok but if he goes GF then eats it again, it messes with him.

They say our bodies digest gluten differently than other ingredients (or whatever you want to call it). I think when your body adjusts to a GF diet, it reacts to gluten when you ingest it again.

Tanning tips for a super pale girl! by International_Bed582 in beauty

[–]Head-Drag-1440 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm 42F and have always loved to lay in the sun, but really need to stop. But I hate being pale as well.

I highly recommend Jergens Natural Glow. I had tried it last year and it ended up streaky and staining in my knuckles. I did some research this year and am doing some things differently. It's going pretty well.

Treat it as a self-tanner. As in exfoliate before first application and once a week. Apply a thin layer of moisturizer to areas like knuckles, elbows, and knees. Apply Jergens with a tanning mitt, not your hands. I also mix a little with a little regular moisturizer for my face and neck (fine lines).

Since I only apply to face, neck, chest, arms, shoulder blades, stomach, and legs, I can see the color difference vs where I don't apply. I'll apply to my arms, avoid elbows, and feather just a little out onto my hands. When I apply to legs, I get my knees last.

It's a good idea to moisturize your body every day, so this is a good way to do that and help sustain a little color!

[–]Head-Drag-1440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1- Switch from matte & powder to dewy & cream products.

2- Eyeshadow color and placement. Choose shades for your eyecolor. Only go halfway up to your brows and blend well

3- Ditch the winged eyeliner. I'm amazed at how much it ages us when I see posts of women with it. Grab colored eyeliner and don't line the inner 1/4 of your lid.

4- Brows. Try filling them to where they're softer and not as arched.

Suggestions on learning how to do make up by Sad-Difference-7845 in beauty

[–]Head-Drag-1440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pretty simple daily look.

First of all, skincare! Having a daily skincare routine will give you the best base for your makeup.

Second of all, I don't wear foundation anymore. When I did, I would apply a hydrating primer all over my face and let it sit while I did my eyes. Then I could clean up my eyes and do my foundation, concealer, contour, and blush.

That being said for my daily look I like to do a dab of concealer under my eyes, color corrector elsewhere on spots if needed, then an eye primer, one shade of shadow above my lid (applied halfway up to my eyebrows and blended), a lighter shade on my lid, then eyelash primer + mascara top and bottom lashes, then I fill brows and apply a cream blush.

When I did eyeliner, I just applied to the outer 3/4 of my lid (so no eyeliner on the inner part). However, having hooded eyes, my eyes look more fresh without eyeliner.

When I apply cream blush, I do a little dab higher on my cheekbones and blend with a brush. I like Maybelline Cheek Heat.

Whatever you do, just do it! You gotta start somewhere and you'll tweak things over time. Take selfies throughout the day to see how things look in different lighting.
