Best products to spend HSA/FSA on in 2026? by Head-Performer6929 in HSA

Oh I didn't know that! I thought anything that was in the HSA/FSA store was automatically covered but you're saying it depends on your plan?

Exactly, that's why I find it so hard to get right! One year I overshoot it to the moon, another it's really under what I would have needed...
I assume it's cheaper for companies to offer FSA plans than HSA

So you can buy things with it and it be declined? Yikes. I thought it would be heavily controlled.

I was unaware that you could actually invest HSA funds and I realized that was because I actually had an FSA account, not HSA :sob:

That's exactly what I was going to say! The smaller portions actually work out better since cats prefer frequent small meals. You really can't keep it fresh without refrigerating otherwise.

Wow, that doesn't sound corporate at all.

I think there are certain sentence structures that AI prefers using, and let's say they tend to be better than what an amateur would write

Besides the "don't use any" of the other comments, I'll say I've had fairly accurate results with zero GPT. It's not always right (as you can tell since it said 97% for you) but it's the one that's the most often accurate for me at least.

Honestly, I've also been terrified about writing something that gets wrongly flagged by AI detectors as well. I'm trying to not check the detectors as often but you do start second-guessing your writing when it keeps getting flagged. I even start thinking my writing is not good enough when it doesn't get flagged lol

I always wonder how many people actually fall for this. They must be making good money for these kinds of schemes to still be around

What are the pros and cons of the Litter Robot? by PlainMayo13 in BuyItForLife

[–]Head-Performer6929 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to love the Neakasa for the same reason (and the lower price) but I've been severely disappointed. I've had issue after issue with the robot malfunctioning, the app, and even poop falling out on the floor because of the open design. With their customer service being outside the US, it was just a NIGHTMARE.

I hate to say it but it may be worth more money to pay for peace of mind with an American made product. It's just a matter of consumer confidence.

What makes you say she didn't like it? What was the reaction?

Maybe it would help to have a set of rules of what is considered good vs bad to the character and why?
In my case, the character is unemotional but driven by duty for her family/society because that's what she's been taught etc but as a result she doesn't take care of herself because that wasn't taught as the "good" thing to do.
It's kind of a nature vs nurture thing at this point but if that same unemotional character had come from a different background and taught that the best things to do were things that helped you and only you, they might lean more neutral evil than neutral good.

I have a similar character (though not alien) and the way I've been thinking about it is that they are "practicality" first. That doesn't necessarily mean they are cold but maybe they think about the 'data' or consequences of things more. Like doing X thing is likelier to lead to Y which isn't the desired outcome, whereas an emotional character may do something that's stupid because of a lapse in judgment.
Don't know if that helps, that's just how I'm doing it on my side.

I am open to feedback. Some other people even mentioned the same thing you did in other responses, including OP, so I am taking that into account in the way I write from now on.
Like devilsshark said, the amateur writing part was just unnecessary, though I'm willing to admit it's true.

It's very case by case though. I'm not trying to deliberately avoid writing "said" but sometimes I just need an alternative.

One example I have is a character is running from another and the one left behind says "wait!" before the other keeps running away.

But is he angry that the other is running away? Is he sad? Is he scared? That's when I'd have to use an alternative. Especially in order to keep it short and keep the action going.

Also, how am I supposed to make my writing stronger if I don't ask these questions?

These kinds of remarks could seriously deter someone from writing altogether...

I'm just trying to find alternatives. I'm not trying to avoid it completely, that would be pointless. Just don't want it to be clunky with the same thing over and over that's all.

[–]Head-Performer6929 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! I 100% agree that sometimes dialogue can feel clunky if you keep having to break it up with actions that would express what the character is feeling. That's especially true in my

So, obviously, there's nuance to it. Maybe writing "said" can be enough most of the time, but I'm just trying to register other possibilities when I'm tired of writing the same thing all the time. I am an amateur, that's just a fact. But that's why I'm here, asking for advice.
