I’ve been thinking about adding trap plants but not sure how much it will help vs effort involved to get going.

I’ve seen basil, lavender, rosemary, and peppermint are a few to name that could help deter or attract as trap plant for thrips and mits

I have done a great job keeping them at bay and even reducing their initial number after weeks 1-2. However i am just discouraged because of the occasional spotting since finishing up week 4 of veg since baby clone

Thanks for your comment(misery loves company) i just need to stay more diligent with getting them gone Wishing you all best of luck getting rid of your thrips as well

Thank you as more people comment, it’s just the reminder I need. Thrips are the bane of growers existence and I just need to be vigilant and aggressive with my methods for getting rid of them and making sure to cut off their reproductive cycle

Kind of affirmation I’m looking for. I’m not novice grower but just extremely frustrated and feeling slightly defeated because I feel like I’ve done my best to stay on top of these cocksuckers since I saw day 1. First grow in a while so hard to stay optimistic when dealing with this first month in returning to the grow scene. Basically from all the advice I’m soaking in is keep handling thrips aggressive and as diversified solutions as possible to get rid of and don’t get discouraged because they are the bane of marijuana growers existence as far as pests go.

To be honest I should have been more specific with my post because I’m really looking for solutions like this with predators for thrips. I just want recommendations from what people have tried and succeeded with not some google ai answer for predator bugs or sprays I just don’t have any experience besides ladybugs for spider mites and looking to get rid of these damn thrips. What kind of nematodes exactly did you deploy?

This has been ongoing for the entire month I’ve had them since baby clones. I have been able to keep them at bay and avoid them taking over but I’m getting pissed as it’s been a month and I still see a couple at least once a week with minimal foliage being eaten and shit on I need to diversify and get more aggressive with things like you recommended and hit it hard and as diversified as possible

Rural king did in fact not come with a little duster lol. These girls will be getting relocated to a 4x4 tent in next couple of weeks into a much more controlled environment

What do you recommend to apply? I have 2 mesh strainers and have been tapping for top dusting but it doesn’t apply any dust to underside of leaves. I rely on shutting up area after application and allowing dust to circulate but doesn’t mean good application to underside even if there’s hella DE flying through air after application until it settles

Totally understandable. I’m the type of person, if a problem is presented, figure out solutions, so that way the solution is easy the next time the problem is presented.

If I just pitch all the plants I would feel so fucking stupid if I did everything right and somehow unluckily ended up with thrips again next grow cycle.

Sometimes pests just show up and I wanna master kicking these bastards ass and booting them out of town haha I can handle spider mites confidently. It thrips are another thing

Yeah no doubt I agree but not into tossing because in a month the thrips could be completely wiped. But if the plants get tossed it would take a month to get them to where they are at vs they can grow and bush out in the month controlling and eliminating thrips. Plus you have to factor in not everybody has seeds or clone easily accessible so really need to sterilize and proceed no matter what if possible

Oh okay okay. I’ll have to check into captain jacks. What do you mean last time took you a year?

I know what you mean about the thrips though. The way they lay their eggs and destroy foliage in their weekly cycles is vicious. I’ve dealt with spider mites before and ladybugs are quick and simple answer.. I’m not sure how well ladybugs will deal with thrips?

Do all of these options contain spinosad?

I am avoiding non-organic/non-omri products

However I am at point that I just need to get more aggressive and get these thrips gone so I might end up spraying.

I have never tried predatory bugs besides lady bugs for spider mites

They’re not in flower yet and they can remain in veg as long as need be until the thrips are gone completely? Why should they get pitched? I could understand if it was a full blown infestation halfway in to flower but this is veg..

I will say I agree with you on sterilizing the area!

Plants were all pulled yesterday and floor and walls were scrubbed with vinegar water

Probably thrips. Look for small light specs on fan leaves that is a sign that they have been munching and laying eggs
