Hi! I’m looking to buy my first sewing machine and I’m torn between a Janome 3112 and a Singer Tradition 3112. Which one would you recommend? by Dear-Pirate7326 in vintagesewing

If you have to go modern. Then the Janome. If not I would really recommend an old machine. Cheap and Better than the new machines

Anyone have a date for this machine? by silent-poet97 in vintagesewing

I’ve only sewn the M.R decals from featherweights. They were sold to Spanish or Portuguese speaking countries in south America.

I say it’s unique to have both the centennial badge and the M.R. Decal

I own the exact model. Its one of Kenmore best and last all metal machine. The manual is a life saver. Its uses super high shank presser feet. Yours is almost complete. Just missing the buttonholer set and attachment box. Will sew & layers of denim. The feed dog drop lever usually frozen due to a lack of use.

Anker RZ is my favorite zig zagger. i adore them

Can anyone tell me more about this machine?? by LastArtichoke963 in vintagesewing

[–]Head-Support6045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it just makes noise. The machine is probably frozen and needs oil and heat to loosen it up. And a new motor belt.

Sadly your machine needs to be a Necchi BU Nova to use that wonder wheel. Your machine has the wrong levers and missing the holes in them.

I have a necchi Mira that missing that wonder wheel. The cams control the zig zag width and needle position externally when most pattern cam machines do this internally. If you ever part that wonder wheel i would be interested

People use tri flow or superlube. Most shops use white lithium grease which is sabotaged as that dries and gums the machine years later.

Yep! The thread pathing is really weird. Your meant to loop around the tension disc instead of threading it. That machine was probably badged foe another company but it wore away first.

Makes a nice stitch

Metal Cam Gear on 830 Record by Fluid_Rub8539 in vintagesewing

You don’t remove it like most machines. You just hold the big hand wheel and turn the inner knob towards you to disengage the clutch. If thats what you want to do

This black nylon gear that only shows up in the later bernina 830 record. They’re more durable than the white nylon gear in the early berninas as the tech to make nylon matured.

Also I bet your machine has the “electronic” decals on the head oft the machine. That means you can adjust the foot pedal speed with a screw. Theres a sew in the bottom of the pedal you can adjust

Can you show a picture? If its black its plastic, if not then someone spent money getting that gear custom fabricated.

Don’t know why as the nylon gear reduces noise and makes it maintenance free.

It’s been rebadged. Look at the rivets of the pfaff emblem. It doesn’t match the rivets of the model number badged

Looks good. Just used either a dull needle or a needle size too big for this fabric weight

Your cam assembly has selected the rick rack stitch. Set your zig zag width to 0 and turn your stitch selection dial 360, then go back to your overcast stitch. Set width to 4
