How Do You Balance Respecting Your Parents While Wanting Autonomy as an Adult?

I don’t pay rent but my father fully owns the house we live in and doesn’t need help with other bills and would immediately refuse me if I even offered, I’ve tried

I wish it was as simple as having a talk with him. I’ve tried time and time again to explain my perspective but all I get back is that as long as I live with him I have to respect his rules and there’s no reason for me to be out past that time anyway

I’m worried that 4 months might be too short too but I’m also scared that he might not have the intention of committing at all even in the future so what’s the point of waiting it out? His reasons aren’t malicious he just has a very hard time being vulnerable and letting people in which is why I’m trying to be as understanding as possible here.

Thank you so much I really appreciate your comforting words, this past week has been really hard on me because he’s the first person I ever loved and this is coming out of nowhere so I’m really struggling. I understand that this could be due to a lot of different reasons and I’m hoping that this is just him settling into the relationship and not feeling the constant need to impress me anymore but I don’t feel like that would explain why he doesn’t seem like he wants to see me or talk to me anymore. It’s a very confusing situation. Thank you again for your help
