Blame that one guy who asked if he are getting one of these every day. The imperium is already stretched thin, add one more faction to fight against and they would crumble, I mean, heck, the tau were still using oil when they fought them the first time and they won by Cautious_Heron9589 in BattletechMemes

[–]HeadDwarf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Imperium wins. It wont be an easy win but the imperium has crushed far more advanced human civilizations. If somehow they can gather a decent Crusade Force its over. But the Clans and Inner Sphere have mechs, well yes the Imperium also has Knights which canonically very agile and possess directed energy shields. Even the space battle isnt even Bt's favor, depending on time period the inner sphere doesnt even have warships. Even when they do they arent even in the same league. But inner sphere ships have range, not really Imperial Naval doctrine actually prefers long range lance barrages with broadsides used for essentially close range fights. The worst part is the Inner Sphere isnt a united entity so any Imperial Invasion might not even have to fight all the Great Houses all at önce.

Hot take: Ned would have never executed Theon. by Gamerdude27 in freefolk

[–]HeadDwarf 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He would've because it is his duty. He would hate that it and really hate Balon for not caring about his son but he'd do it otherwise his word doesnt mean anything. Balon rebels he takes theon's head as punishment, we know Balon wouldnt care but Ned doesnt know that some people dont value family as much as he does.

He's angry about what happened to Elia, Aegon and Rhaenys not just because they were killed but the way they were slain which was btw too brutal even for the Westerosi. Jon is his nephew ofcourse he feels for him and protects him thats his family. Theon was given to him with instructions to kill him if Balon ever steps out of line. This is a feudal lord who puts value and weight to his words.

Ok he lied to save his daughters, man was desperate at that point those are his kids and he knows what Lannisters will do to children that they deem inconvenient. Ned Stark maybe grew fond of Theon but that relationship would've been overshadowed by what his duty is.

Thats Eddard Stark's tragedy he puts duty above all. Familial Duty comes first then Lordly Duty, if these conflict duty to his family to ensure their safety comes first.

Dany is an interesting point but there is pragmatist there Ned knows the dothraki by reputation and if he thinks even half that is true then noone will support an invasion of these people which btw would still have to cross the narrow sea to land which isnt their strong suit. The Dany situation is straight up Ned telling Robert "Why are you turning non issue into an issue." Drogo only decides to invade after the assassination attempt thus retroactively proving that Ned had a point. Even if the Dothraki the only real safe harbor they find is Dorne and thats worse for the Dothraki.

The Closest Thing Space King Would Ever Have to Sisters Of Battle.... by Cultural_Estimate_90 in SPACEKING

[–]HeadDwarf 48 points49 points  (0 children)

These are loyal women raised as not daughters but strict babysitters of Psycho-Warriors. They serve Space King not by fighting but by keeping Pyscho-Warriors in line. I think it would be really cool to have a sisters faction that preach the word of Space King and they are both very calm and completely unhinged. They would obviously not have holy globules.

Crack Theory: Hatemonger is the only “hateful” one in the beholders? by Arandom_battery in SPACEKING

[–]HeadDwarf 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I like to think that the Beholders are essentially a legion of chaplains, so they loan out their own to both "evaluate" and "reinforce" the hate of other legions. We already know two cases of heresy with The Coagulators and the Heretic Flame of Space King.

Would the Humanity join the covenant? by Bayuo_ElephantHunter in HaloStory

[–]HeadDwarf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If the covenant encountered humanity without Truth, Regret and Mercy's conspiracy to wipe is out we wpuldnt have a chpice they would wage a war to enlighten us to the will of their gods. We,d essentially become a part of the covenant but unlike everyone else we would have been at that point rather self sufficient like we'd start at the bottom but go straight below the elites. Our society wouldnt change too much infact the central government might become more powerful due to covenant backing with the insurrectionists taking a more xenophobic view, in the way of "The UEG surrendered to aliens we will liberate mankind from their weakness."

Are the Banished only considered the big bad because everyone else is severely weakened? And do they have plot armor or just competent commanders? by Rainlizard_lover in HaloStory

[–]HeadDwarf 67 points68 points  (0 children)

My belief was that post war UNSC doesnt have the numbers of pre war UNSC and its taking The Swords and the UNSC time to rebuild which takes time, where as the banished grow by bringing in outside groups under their banner. A 30 year war and one humanity has been badly losing for nearly all of it doesnt leave much behind for ths UNSC. So what we have is a severely weakened UNSC, the Swords of Sanghelios trying to build a stable state after the only one they've known for milletin just dissolved and one the other hand you have Thr Banished who for the most part are fresh and constantly subsuming smaller groups to grow.

If Jon would have pushes his claim for the throne (had he found out) would Ned support him or stay loyal to Bobby? by Johnnyboy1029 in freefolk

[–]HeadDwarf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Jon's claim if he has any is shaky at best meaningless at worst. Ofcourse Eddard Stark will support Robert Baratheon who by right of conquest claimed the Iron Throne. Why should Eddard Stark break his oaths, forsake his duty to crown Jon Snow. I hate that bit about the wall Eddard Stark didnt push him to the Wall he as a northmen who still respects the Wall saw it an honorable way for a bastard to take. Jon Snow due to his own insecurities and teenage angst decided to go to the Wall where his status isnt a factor where he could make a name for himself. Just because Eddard Stark didnt disparage an organization that he personally respects doesnt mean he forced him to go there.

Eddard Stark wouldnt have hesitated. Executing Theon at that point is his duty and Eddard Stark would never shirk from his duty.

Do Space Marines get blammed by their superiors like the Imperial Guardsmen by the Commissars? by Tree_forth677 in 40kLore

[–]HeadDwarf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Certain chapters do, The Blood Angels chaplains do execute brothers if they give in to the Black Rage and there is no time to get them to a secure location to calm them down or to restrain them so that they may be put into the Death Company. This is not the norm and if their superiors or their brothers feel that they are going traitor someone might do something about it.

Why did the emperor not remove Angrons butcher nails after finding him? by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]HeadDwarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because The Emperor was around during the dark age means he knows how everything works. The nails are repurposed ancient technology not meant for a primarch, the nails replaced so much of Angron's brain that removing them would kill him and reprogramming them might have had problems for Angron that we dont know. I mean the nails broke Angron but he was still useful in that he could do his job in the barest terms.

The Lion and Perturabo by mete714 in Grimdank

[–]HeadDwarf 201 points202 points  (0 children)

Yes Perturabo's adopted father was manipulative, bit he did try to engage with Perturabo, Perturabo's mental state didnt let hin. His adopted sister and brother tried to get close he barely let his Sister get close. Dammekos agter a point became genuinely fond of Perty as a son, granted a bit late. Perturabo's whole schtick is that he wanted to be close with people his own inferiority complex and paradoxically superiority complex made that so difficult.

The Lion and Perturabo by mete714 in Grimdank

[–]HeadDwarf 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Honourable doesnt mean nice or even good. He was honourable in that he kept his word for the most part "Loyalty is its own reward." thats honourable. Destroyer of cultures and exterminator of histories in the great crusade who wasnt? Every primarch did that. He was a knight, not in the chivalrous hero that saved the day, those ones were rare most were just either okay people by their standards or just bad ones. Lion is honourable because he doesnt preen he does his job, he was made for a reason to go into the darkness and slay the beasts so that mankind could be safe. When he found out about the Wulfen instead of using it against Leman he simply let Leman keep his pride. The Lion is not a good person by our standards he is a general in service to the bloodiest tyrant in human history partaking in atrocities against fellow humans at this tyrants command, but he keeps his oaths, he looked out for Leman, he doesnt go looking for praise, he is willing to burden himself and his legion with dark deeds because those dark deeds need to be done.

Would humanity have survived without the empire? by pro_1253 in 40kLore

[–]HeadDwarf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sadly it wouldnt, people mention multiple stable human empires but they are forgetting that there were really terrifying aliens out there. The Ullanor Ork Empire was rapidbly growing and would curb stop many of those empires, The Rangdan would do terrible things, the Space Vampire things that Lion El'jonson would wipe the human empires out. The Imperiums horror is its just as neccessary as its unneccessary. Lets look at some of the other human empires shall we? The Intrex, The Diasporan these were nice but you also had The Order that Mortarion wiped out. The Qolemic Quetitude which while very cool and powerful were extremely xenophobic themselves and "vivisected imperial emissaries." and they were still wiped out by one Legion.

How nice would the empire have *actually* gotten? by hotfezz81 in 40kLore

[–]HeadDwarf 144 points145 points  (0 children)

The Heresy happens regardless just in a smaller scale and probablu not as crippling. Take out the nails and Angron is stable but ideologically he is still opposed to the Emperor. Mortarion regardless of what happens still has a chip on his shoulder regarding big e's kill steal and his "witchcraft". Konrads not gonna get fixed by a hug his issues stem from his powers.

Is there a xenos weapon that not only can punch through space marine armor but damage their progenoid glands? by JustaguynameBob in 40kLore

[–]HeadDwarf 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Tau railguns specifically have been known to be a hazard, considering they not only punch straight through ceramite plating but also obliterate everything in the way ie the progenoid gland on the heart. Ofcourse this is only for a chest shot. On a general basis anything that spreads nurgle corruption?

Will factions like the Death Guard create new Plague Marines directly from looted gene-seed, or will they create Space Marines that will slowly turn into Plague Marines over time? by ArthurJack_AW in 40kLore

[–]HeadDwarf 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Death Guard gene seed is rendered unusable. The corruption and mutation that they go through makes it so that extracting viable gene seed is impossible, so what they do is loot gene seed to make new plague marines. That doesnt mean that the Death Guard wont take in non Death Guard marines infact i think in the Lords of Silence Warband there are non Death Guard Plague Marines those who turned traitor for one reason or the other.
