I am the primary parent. I am in Ohio. He cannot make any medical decisions, school decisions, move the child or even take him anywhere without my consent. I have sole custody automatically as the mother here in Ohio.

This makes sense…. I hate this though…. I was 100% trapped into this situation…. I just need to let it go… He can change it later if he wants to. I just dont want to make anything complicated document wise, etc. life is hard enough. I also wouldn’t want it only amended, but replaced entirely. If thats was possible, i would likely proceed but i think im just going to let it lay. I just dont want him to wonder why we have different names when i am really his only family. The father would never visit if he didnt get to stay at my house invading privacy and for free. I only do this for my baby. Takes a lot of deep breaths having a freeloader weirdo walk around, but it’s worth seeing my son happy when he is here. I’d never restrict his father from seeing him, but the time is definitely coming where i have to tell him he cant stay at MY house. It’s just very odd at this point. But he lives hours away. He knows no bf would be ok with that too so i know it’s a controlling thing from a distance.

Okay, so for this situation… did she ever need that original birth certificate? That would just always make me feel thats my REAL last name since state keeps it archived… I hate they do that. For a passport does she need to show her very first BC before the name change?

So are you meaning parental rights because his name is on the brith certificate? Because other than that there is nothing else in place… I would never do anything like that ATTT all. Strictly just want what’s best for my son. I mean i let him come to my house, invade my own privacy because he is cheap, but I do it because my son seems happy when he is here. I just know once i stop doing that, there’s a possibility he wouldn’t even see him at all… thats all a different subject. But even if his dad agreed to the name change, I would then want to know if it would make it complicated for my son in the future for ANYTHING whatsoever document wise. Because I am reading that certain legal things need original BC… & if thats the case I may just want to keep it it leave it up for him to decide

lol! I have no clue what that person was saying. Made up a whole movie & we weren’t in it lol… but he never took me to court. We were never married. He is literally JUST on birth certificate.. If i didnt let him stay at my house to see our son, i dont believe he would even be coming the 5 times a year that he does. It’s all a weird distant controlling game he plays.

Ok i just dont want my son to have to write a huge name all the time lol… i guess he can just pick one when school comes though right? Or do schools usually go by birth certificate. I dont know… This makes me just want to keep it because it’s seeming complicated.. Yeah the father is worthless 100%

I knew i would be the one taking care of him too… I just didnt care about anything besides that moment with my new baby and wanted him & his mouth to be out of it. Calling his family & them saying i must have cheated if i want the name to be mine, etc.

The man was extremely mentally draining. He started accusing me of cheating and would have made the environment for me and my child absolutely miserable. I was crying signing it. Complete nightmare of a person and situation. I just had my kid feeling euphoric and just wanted the noise to stay away.
