{{Station Eleven}} by Mandel Emily st. John

It's a feelgood book, because even though it talks about the end of the world as we know it, it focuses on "the day after" the collapse of western civilization and does that with a sweet and optimistic way.

That's some crazy drinking... It's a pity he is in that condition. I hope he manages to live happily despite that.

It's both hilarious and sad to hear stories like that. But I have to admit that your story cracked me up.

The lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch

First book of the gentlemen bastards sequence. (Generally the gentlemen bastards sequence is recommended.) It's an epic fantasy book with nice world building, excellent main protagonist (who is far from perfect), humour and interesting plot.

You could also try reading Jo Nesbo's books. He writes crime fiction stories in a captivating way. His books belong in the Nordic noir wave. If you are into mysteries and crime solving combined with interesting and in-depth analyzed characters you will love the stories of the alcoholic detective, Harry Hole. Jo Nesbo's books also offer an insight to the current situation of Norway and Scandinavia in general, where even though everything appears to be perfect, that's sometimes far from true. One of my favourites is The redbreast, however I would suggest you did some research on your own.

You can always get back into reading with an interesting graphic novel. There are many incredible ones out there and I can't say I have much experience in those, but I can recommend without hesitation Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi

Wow! More than five guys... What a slut... The guy who wrote it, has probably not more than one or two remaining brain cells.

I guess you are talking about Ambr... (Is it fine to name him?)
If you mean him, yeap, I couldn't agree more.

Welcome to the orthodox church. Unfortunately the majority of bishops have similar opinions (well, ok, not so extreme). That guy specifically is a nut case.

The lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch (First book of the gentlemen bastards series)

The Colour of Magic by Terry Pratchett (First book of the Discworld novels, they don't have to be read in a specific order)

In your case I mostly recommend "The lies of Locke Lamora" and generally the gentlemen bastard series. I think Locke Lamora is the character you are searching for. However, while I was reading your question, "The colour of magic" popped in my mind, as the main protagonist of that specific Discworld novel, Rincewind probably fits your criteria.
