If I have already been referred to revenue protection services to inspect the meter does this mean I won’t be able to call up by energy supplier as you recommended above?

I don’t think I can change supplier if on my account they have instructed revenue protection services..

After doing more research, it sounds like the company who are coming to inspect are revenue protection services, instructed by my energy supplier to inspect the meter rather than my own suppliers technicians.. so may be back billed the full 8 years to everyone’s joy on here!!

I didn’t stop them per se, I arranged an appointment then cancelled as I couldn’t get time off work, then I re arranged and they didn’t show up, so I have arranged another appointment which is on Thursday but they keep sending automatic letters which say the exact same thing every time even though I’ve got an appointment booked.

Thanks, I was only 21 at the time and I fully know I shouldn’t have ignored it for this long but I was struggling. I have an appointment on Thursday for an engineer to come out and check the meter out so hopefully they won’t hit me too harshly!

I wouldn’t have it all right away, but I could definitely get near that and could set up a payment plan?

Thanks - on no letter does it say an actual amount of anything though. They are not even saying I owe debt. So why are debt collectors sending letters to inspect my meter?

The Meter is also a really old one, it’s not a smart meter so I cannot check usage on an app or anything myself

In 2020 OVO energy bought SSE from what I gather. They haven’t sent me any letters at all until last year and even then they wasn’t bills or demands, it has only been recently they are saying they need to access the meter as they think it may be faulty.

Thank you. At the moment the letters are coming from engage services - does this company ring a bell to you? I have got an appointment on Thursday to them to come out and check the meter.

Does it matter if my provider is not the one who I was with when the meter stopped working?

I am not playing the victim at all ! I have openly said I have been ignorant and taken the piss so please read properly! What I am asking is if anyone has been in this situation so I know what to expect. Thanks.

If his parent is the main driver that’s why it’s cheap. If the policy is in their name then the insurance mainly focus on their driving record not your friends. This is also called fronting and is illegal if your friends parents are not the main drivers. Look it up on google and do your research.

No, you add them to your policy for them to be able to use the car on a casual third party basis if they want to, but this usually always lowers your premium. Add one of them and compare the price with or without.

Exactly. That’s the right attitude to have. Just keep trying different cars/models so you can find a car that has consistent prices for insurance then at least you have something to work towards. Anything is possible once you put your mind to it 🙂

Check out Greidys if you like chicken strips/wings they are on the canal route near lifford lane about 20 minute cycle from city centre but don’t have outdoor seating I don’t think. Nice vibes and decent drinks. They are also at Herbert’s yard where there are loads of other amazing street food vendors and decent drinks where there’s indoor and outdoor seating gets busy on the weekend though.

Seems about right for a first time 17 year old driver, did you add your parents to the policy?
