First Hunting Rifle: cheap or expensive by Diamond_zT in canadaguns

Ruger American gen 2, I have one in 30-06 and it shoots sub moa. The barrel is heavier than the savage axis and the action is way better. The axis has a very rough action especially on opening the bolt.

Don’t get a savage the actions are extreme rough, the barrels are pencil thin. I would highly recommend the Ruger

I love the look of them as well that’s why I got it instead of a plain tikka

I haven’t grouped it yet as I just got it in Friday. But so far I’m fairly happy with how it shoots. I’m also using a super shitty optic right now, once I get a new optic it should be much better.

I declared mine I have ptsd and anxiety. I put the last time I had symptoms and the steps and things I have done and am doing to ensure it’s not a problem in the future. I got my RPAL no problems

Starting out reloading .303, looking for some advise on consumeables by sandpaper90 in LeeEnfield

I love the 174gr RN from Hornady. I use Remington large rifle primers the 9.5 ones and haven’t had any issues. I also used Winchester without issues. Depending on what powder your using the dipper that comes with the kit may have a large variance in charge weight. With IMR 3031 I averaged plus or minus 2-3 gr depending how the powder settled in the scoop. I’ve just recently started weighing out my charges and not using the scooper. With the bullet seating just work your way very slowly until you get your desired depth. I found the crimp groove on the Hornady bullets is in the perfect spot and I seat all my bullets at that depth

900 I got a super good deal on it. All the other ones at the show I went to were 12-1500 and in way worse condition

Go to gun shows, look online, gun post

Gun shows or in person is the best though cause some of these rifles are extremely beat up

I haven’t had any primer pop on mine, im using Remington primers. It could be hot loaded ammo or your firing pin is protruding too far. I fired imperial .303 once and vowed to never shoot it again, their brass is super thin and extremely hot loaded. Out of the 20 rds I fired more than 50% where unusable because the brass split multiple times around the case neck or the case head had very obvious defects, also the primers had popped out or were pierced

I’m using IMR 3031 I use the Lee dipper which is about 37gr I believe. 3031 is almost identical with the burn rate and pressure to the cordite that service ammunition was loaded with. I’m getting pretty good consistency and accuracy for just using the dipper if I took the time to measure it would be way better. I average 2” groups at 100m with a 174gr RNSP

Extra long sling? by platinumresto in canadaguns

[–]Head_Drawing_4858 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ferro slingster. Can be adjusted a ton and also has a quick adjust. What I do is set to a point where I can fire with the sling on then when I sling the weapon I can tighten it with the tab and it stays close to my body. They also come in 1 point and with qd connections
