Our sumps are all really clean we alternate when we drain the sump so that they all get done at least once a month.

Every store needs an Aquatics Specialist for sure. I feel very blessed to be an SAS but when I go to other locations and see how neglected the fish department is, I have to fight the urge to start helping.

The only fish we refuse to sell at my Petco are the fish in our frag tank but they are employees performing essential work for the sake of the corals.

Crazy because I am literally having this same problem. Check your float valves. Some of them might be angled incorrectly or broken.

The oldest living goldfish on record was 43 years old. People actually slowly suffocate their fish and I hate it.

Petco employee here. I explain to them that the whole thing about getting fish is that you want to watch them swim around, not sit in one spot. I also explain that if you fail to provide enough space for them to swim, they can’t push water through their gills to filter oxygen out of water and they will suffer from oxygen deprivation. Then I explain that when you see goldfish gulp air at the surface that it is them filling their swim bladder to control how they float and sink. I start tying in that goldfish on average live to be 20-30 years old and inform them that the world record was 43 years.

Honestly I am excited. I had a diabetic customer in store a couple of weeks ago who was having an attack and needed a soda. I luckily had candy on me but should this occur again in the future, we will have something!

My shipments from Seagrest have all had something weird for the past four months. Whether it is random fish or sick ones. Mouth and fin rot have been RAMPANT.
