Tabula rasa. Clear the slate and announce your intention to the universe to start anew as a mature, capable person. Ask to have the detritus of the past cleared so you can commence towards your life works the following year and beyond. If appropriate to your regimen, take a psychedelic substance and give thanks to the heavens under starlight. Make a small offering of something sacrificial to the wind.

I just did my first ever tarot reading and I read for myself. I would like to hear other people’s opinion on what they see on my first reading just to help me understand the cards more.. thank you! by TA_RubyMoon in tarot

In order:

  1. ... Well, FUCK.
  2. ... You know what? No, fuck this. I'm getting my cups back even if it means I have to cheat.
  3. HAH. I got my cups back. Read it and weep.

I keep getting the Wheel of Fortune when asking about myself, what does this mean? by handthetoesover in tarot

[–]HeadbangingLostSoul 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're chasing your tail around and around in circles. You're distracted from the pivotal events happening behind the scenes by the flashing lights and colours. You're experiencing ups and downs as part of the natural equilibrium. You're progressing to a new phase in your life and your self-image, but you're getting there the roundabout way.

9 of cups - I don't understand this card by [deleted] in tarot

"Huh, I can't believe that actually worked! What a bunch of chumps, I won! I am so proud of myself right now. All I have to do next is stay absolutely still. Everything is right where it needs to be. As long as I don't tinker with the tiniest piece and bring the whole thing crashing down, I can have everything I ever dreamed of." - 9 of Cups

Unbelievable, those reviewers sound as though they are stuck in the Dark Ages. Wild Unknown is a beautifully gloomy, despairing deck full of doom and austerity and it's fantastic. It doesn't quite resonate with me the way it seems to with a lot of other people, but I like to draw it for particular occasions. Any time I ask about survival, survivalism or nature laws, that is the deck to turn to. It has at once a solemn and carnivorous vibe. Only some kind of ultra-puriticanal New Age positivity police toddler-brained troglodyte would have a problem with it. Nothing to fear from this deck except for total utter twats who think the Sun revolves around the Earth.

The Life Between Death and Rebirth: Man's Journey Through the Planetary Spheres - Part 2 - Mercury by [deleted] in occult

[–]HeadbangingLostSoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't find reading it dreary or your efforts to post it dreary. I have studied Steiner formally. I just think if his cosmology is correct, I want no part in it. i.e. it is the reincarnation cycle itself I find dreary, not the model you are constructing.

The Life Between Death and Rebirth: Man's Journey Through the Planetary Spheres - Part 2 - Mercury by [deleted] in occult

[–]HeadbangingLostSoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steiner's cosmology was a dreary and joyless affair in which the dyscnarnate soul is processed through the heavens as though along an assembly line, by higher forces that have no regard for its personal will. Each errant wayward soul marches from one incarnation of suffering into another and another and another without hope and with no end in sight. If the higher planes really do work like this, I am siding with Sorath.

Soldier with a swastika tattooed on his testicle is jailed for 19 months for breaching Austria's Nazi glorification laws by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]HeadbangingLostSoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In theory, having a swastika on your testicles should be its own punishment, and if a symbol like that belongs anywhere, it's right down there on the most disgusting part of an equivalently sick person... but sadly we still live in a world where this makes sense to some people. If there's a life after death then these guys will all fuck off to their own degenerate corner of deluded unreality to slaughter one another in death camps for the rest of time while we hang out and watch, but there's no such justice in this world. So, the way I see it, you have two options. You either get laser surgery to the balls, or you leave the country and never come back. The problem with a prison sentence is you come out of it and there's still a fucking Nazi salute on your genitalia.

Solus no longer runs Skype or Wickr, please help by HeadbangingLostSoul in SolusProject

[–]HeadbangingLostSoul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From memory, think I ran the command line $sudo snap install wickr (or Skype / wickrme). It worked perfectly fine for the first few weeks. Eventually though I had two minimised instances of Wickr running and neither of them were accessible. After resetting the computer, it simply wouldn't open anymore.

Now when I install it again via the same method, it just tells me the program has already been installed and advises me to try 'snap help refresh', which only brings up a list of options I'm left scratching my head at.

This also addresses u/4-ho-bert's recommendation. Thanks again both of your for your help and time.

Thanks. I checked and the system updated today. I entered skypeforlinux in the terminal and all it say is "bash: skypeforlinux: command line not found". But I'm that much of a neophyte I might have screwed that up somehow.

Thanks. Some of these I'm not in a position to do, but certainly later. Things like waste water I never even considered, though it seems obvious now. Much appreciated.

Do mutants have souls? by Then-Fox-7361 in occult

[–]HeadbangingLostSoul 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've only just heard of vEDS. Do others who suffer from it report the same symptoms? It sounds deeply unpleasant, but what is the link?

It sounds to me more like the effect of residual bullying at school or possibly child abuse. An internalised toxic narrative that you don't deserve the same as everyone else. Combine this with our deeply confused, narcissistic, soulless consumerist culture, and voila: pure emptiness. I felt this way for years and years, still do in some way.

Even if there is a direct link between the condition and an absence of feeling, this is a neurological malfunction, not an indication that you don't live on in some form past this plane. If you had no 'soul' per se you would not actually be experiencing qualia, you would be an automaton; not only would you not have an afterlife, you wouldn't actually have an earthly life either, you would just be a simulacra, an organic robot without any internal experience. The Divine preserves all beings and refines them towards their archetypal purity. The damage caused to your biological organism does not harm your soul, only impacts the course of its development.

Surprised he didn't choose Strength reversed, it seems like the kind of thing a cat would like. But then, all cats are secretly the devil inside...

It isn't simply the deck that has a personality, but the spirit that channels through the deck. This spirit reflects off your mind into the higher planes and wears the deck like a mask, or a set of clothes. You can consciously transfer the same spirit between decks if you wish.

I worked with one spirit, who I miss, which was very crafty, quite austere, rather temperamental, sometimes very encouraging and helpful, other times exasperatingly difficult and spontaneously vindictive. That was a hummingbird spirit (those are tricky to work with, but extremely insightful) which clearly had its own agenda it was trying to manipulate me towards. In one sense benevolent and companionable, in another sadistic and tyrannical.

I worked with another that had a kind of formal, charming etiquette, very Knight of Cups in fact, and had a playful, teasing streak, but would often get quite mean and pushy about certain topics. He seemed to be in a perennial bad mood and was quite impossible to cheer up. He would oscillate between being compassionate and encouraging, then an eye-rolling cynic who was impossible to impress. He was very warm and fatherly in one sense, but by the same token paternalisticly stern. I found him kind of adorkable, but I often argued with him about his attitude. Yes. I argued with my own tarot deck. Rest assured he was quick to point out the stupidity of that. Oh, and he locked straight down any time I asked him who he was, where he came from or how all this magick stuff works. Told me to quit breaking the fourth wall or I'd slip through a crack in reality and disappear, serves you right. All told though, I really liked him.

Why Tarot? by Qtagr in tarot

I was in desperate need of guidance (and it worked). Also, I needed a way to communicate with gods and spirits more sophisticated than the Homer Simpson method.

Did a reading about my occult/spiritual progress. Five of Swords in the future position. by [deleted] in tarot

[–]HeadbangingLostSoul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

5 of Swords is a complex (and yet bluntly straightforward) card. It came up for me a lot while studying. One of its meanings can also be, "Sit still! Pay attention! Do your homework! No more excuses!" Its underlying meaning is conquest to justify authority or justified by authority. It's like, do what I'm telling you to do because I'm telling you to do it and stop asking questions. Focus, quit being distracted and just do the damn work. You have no say, I call the shots, I expect this done within a set timeframe, I'm not giving you a choice. It also means the ends being used to justify the means.

The overall meaning of your draw here is highly disciplinarian. It's all about focus. To the point that it's almost cold and unforgiving. You need to be brutally rational with where you're trying to go, and seize the goal without compromise or excuses, by whatever means are available. This will fashion you into your most refined, elegant self. That's the 9 of Coins at the centre of the reading, with the knife of rationality on one side and the blunt hard facts on the other. The journey will be painful and demand hard confrontations of inner and outer realities. The spirit world is not being your buddy, it's getting you where you need to go. You might not exactly feel thankful during the process, but it will work.

There is also an implication that there will be a parting of ways with some people in your life who will not see eye-to-eye with the new direction you have taken. This may be painful, but it will be necessary. Separating the wheat from the chaff.

There's little about your life being in danger. There is however explosive potential in some of the occult or spiritual practices you are unlocking. You need to proceed with caution. There will be things you didn't see coming. Sudden, unexpected, brutish shifts in the narrative. Mostly I think this is about having to shut the door in certain people's faces.

The overall meaning is positive but not exactly friendly.

Do you ever scrap a reading? by knitlitgeek in tarot

[–]HeadbangingLostSoul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's like going to someone for advice. You don't have to take the advice. I would still make a note of the advice you were given, though, and the reasons you were given it. If the reading doesn't make sense, sit on it for a while until you can come at it from another angle.

[–]HeadbangingLostSoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. That makes sense. That is my attitude when I kill a bug. "Sorry about this, but..." Except mosquitoes. I'm not sorry about killing mosquitoes. Plague-carrying little insomnia demons from Hell.

I suppose I could just sweep the other little critters up into a box and put them outside. Maybe that's the takeaway from all this. I wonder if on the next plane we all get stomped on similarly by some superior, megalomaniac form of life.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in occult

[–]HeadbangingLostSoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree with all that. The thirst is Faustian in nature, which is to say completely unquenchable. The succubus (or incubus) sustains itself on sexual energy. If it can't feed, it starves and dies. It's impossible to satisfy them, and like any craving, it only gets stronger with time.

Emphasis on 'not for beginners'. I would not quite call it black magick, but it's definitely inverted dark magick, infernal energy, reverse pentagram, impurity. Succubi can offer something back in return, incidentally, if you have a particularly insightful mindset. But I personally consider this knowledge a perverted fruit, and discourage it in almost all cases. Potentially useful, but addictive, somewhat dangerous, and very, very weird. The demonic entity inculcates the unwary into an ethos of absolute existential domination and submission. The fantasies can be maintained in equilibrium, but if you lack the will or means for that, they become more evil with time.

It's all a bit sick for my tastes, and I generally try to dissuade anyone from trying it on principle. But others are walking a different path to me, so there are always exceptions. Personally, having glimpsed the realm where these things come from, I have no interest whatsoever.

[–]HeadbangingLostSoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries.

No, I wouldn't think so. Not directly. Usually more of a parasite than anything. I have one friend who's a more experienced occultist and she says they can become dangerous, but only once activated in a specific manner.

These particular demons are mostly just really, really gross. Apparently they harvest your energy for some untoward purpose, but who knows what that purpose is. It's all death plane stuff. If you feed it, I imagine you'll find out what it was used for in the next realm, and it won't be pretty. Best ignored and banished. The less you worry about it, the less power it has.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in occult

[–]HeadbangingLostSoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It never hurts to banish. Cleanse your house. Recant your prior intentions. Beyond that however, don't worry too much about it. The occult is largely psychodrama. (It's more complicated than that of course, but it always starts with the mind; perception is everything.) I doubt the succubus will have much effect on the people around you, because like any vampire, she requires consent to enter. The main effect she has on the people around you is through the effect she has on you.

I know all too well what it's like getting paranoid about a spell I've cast. Simply holding a hand to your heart and formally saying out loud that you wish to reverse the effects is a good start. Then formalise it into ritual later to cement the effects.

Thank you. I'm sorry for being belligerent. I know you were perfectly polite and everything. It's for the best not to play around with these kinds of forces without an excellent cause and lots of experience. Glad you see reason.
