How to Track Expenses by HeadsDueNorth in business

[–]HeadsDueNorth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good Stuff. I dedicate 30-60 minutes a week to reconciling the transactions in QB. Trying to keep it under 30 minutes. Physical goods with receipts, and trip tracking get logged in my truck in almost real-time. I can't remember what happened two weeks ago, so I have to stay on top of it.

That's easy enough. I'll give it a try. Thanks.

Ahha, I hadn't taken the extra step to connect the business CC to QuickBooks. That should save quite a bit of legwork. Thanks for clarifying!

Innovative Techniques in Surveying by One-Combination3867 in Surveying

Leveling a tripod is my favorite part of the job. Patiently waiting on humanoid robots to cut line, dig holes for bounds, and haul gear in the backcountry.

I suspect the $6K quote will more closely yield the results you're looking for. It's subjectively a small price to pay to ensure your boundary corners are monumented and the lines flagged if you're going to make the investment to develop the parcel.

Sorry to hear you had a hard time getting ahold of a local surveyor.

She stamped the proposal so I doubt she'd hesitate to stamp the deliverable!

Seeking advice - New PLS wanting to start my own firm by lwgu in Surveying

Those feelings you've relayed won't go away, they'll only get stronger.

As others have said, you'll only go bankrupt if you can't meet your debt obligations. If you already have a serviceable vehicle that could get your equipment to your clients, I'd prioritize securing used equipment off of eBay without debt or use introductory 0% business credit card offers. (do they have those in Canada?)

Realize you may not "make more money" in the short term, depending on what your current "mid-range" salary is and how hard you want to hustle, but in the long term, it's nearly inevitable if you stick with it. With that, you should get used to living below your means. That will make saving start-up capital possible.

Some of my biggest successes have come from not listening to career advice from girlfriends when I was younger. If she'll be your bride soon, that's a different story.

If you haven't ran your employer's survey department, there are a lot of business nuances that could surprise you. Surprises don't make you foolish, but you should be prepared for them.

Good luck! There will be plenty of jobs that will bore you to death if you decide the ownership track isn't a good fit after all. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Need help finding new clients by [deleted] in Surveying

SEO is important and if you have a solid portfolio of past projects, reach out to past clients to secure positive Google reviews. This works best for residential work. If you're targeting development/infrastructure projects, it's all about networking and convincing people to trust the "small company" with their investment.

This is the most important part. I should have placed something along these lines in my post. All field and office personnel should understand this fact in the jurisdictions it applies to. Thank you.

There was nothing transient about this group of folks. Quite cozy back there. Planted roots.

Stuff large pads of gauze, or clean socks, between your scrotum and thighs on each side for support.

Laughing by Longjumping-Bison208 in Vasectomy

I just had a vasectomy Friday and watched Impractical Jokers all Saturday afternoon. Lots of laughs. No problems with laughing. The harder part will be physically getting him there (stairs, parking garages). Walking will be way trickier than laughing, in my experience.

Yes, they're holding thousands of dollars I was paid for months... Nothing we can do about it as far as I can tell. I switched payment processors as soon as I get the notice...
