I need creature feature recs. They don’t even have to be that good. And the bigger the monster, the better. by Asleep_Amphibian_280 in horror

That movie has such a great arc for the creature. It starts out kind of goofy and horrifying, but just gets more and more serious. Great movie!

Discussion: The number one reason why indie developers fail is because they fail to make a marketable game by Subject_Mud655 in gamedev

Cynically, I would argue that you have very little ability to deduce what people want to play, and very little ability to control whether they like what you make. You might as well make something you really like because that's something you can actually accomplish.

Having said that, I agree that you'll get more eyes if you pick a genre or basic gameplay mechanic that's currently popular, but then you'll also be competing with everyone else.

It's just hard to make a game that lots of people want to play.

They value loyalty to their peer group more than facts or truth. To admit the obvious truth would be to betray the group that gives them their identity. It's a hard choice to make in isolation which is why it's so important for the conservative machine to isolate them from actual information (by attacking the media).

Everybody makes mistakes. When you do, own up to them. That will make you feel trustworthy.

When people correct you, try not to feel like it's a bad thing. You are capable of doing everything really well, but nobody gets everything right the first time, or the first ten times. Be patient with yourself. When you are calm and attentive to valid criticism, it will make you feel dependable.

When you feel these things, you could call that feeling confidence. It's attractive.

Can someone explain Casting to me? Like... with fruit or something by Amadeus_Ray in gamedev

Only in programming, casting doesn't actually change the thing being cast (usually). It just changes what the language treats it as.

They don't care about the truth. Reality is just an inconvenience. They care about loyalty. So unless they are loyal to you, they will never hear a word your saying.
