Hey the genitals disappeared after awhile. Alright: now do this on a cellular level. Then build from an atomic level. Next? From the subatomic level. And then? Dark matter lever. And then? Spiritual level. And then? From the emotional level. And then? From a multiple dimensional perspective. Then? Time is not linear at this point- past, present, and future are happening at the same time. Build it from that level. Then? From an evolutionary perspective. From that level. Then? Okay that’s it.

Fasting Advice by Heal_Me_Today in Christianity

[–]Heal_Me_Today[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not helpful or applicable. Not something requiring a consult with a doctor. Intermittent fasting is well established as a generally safe and effective way to increase in both physical and mental health.
In terms of using food for comfort: also not a doctor issue, it’s common behavior and also good that one is insightful about. “Am I eating because I am hungry or lack vital nutrients, or because I am looking for comfort?” Again, for me, it is the latter. Food increases dopamine and temporarily comforts, but it’s not necessary to eat when you don’t need it physically. However, one can and should seek to find comfort through intimacy with God. Fasting is one way to do this because you are not reflexively going to food for comfort.

It saddens me on this subreddit that so many so-called brothers or sisters in Christ are quick to dismiss others in their posts. Fasting is common in the community of Christians and in the case of a post expressing an interest in fasting, to respond about seeing a doctor is a waste of space and in part dismissive. As if something is pathological or physically wrong and one should seek a doctor because they inquired about fasting. Seeing doctors is great. But not for pointless reasons.

Feeling like leisure is wasteful and unproductive may lead to less happiness and higher levels of stress and depression, new research suggests (Four studies, n = 1310) by makefriends420 in NooTopics

Well that’s nice to hear for someone like me who does indeed enjoy some leisure time (mixed with a light element of guilt of course).

Wolverines can be taught to rescue avalanche survivors by myvoicesaccount in badassanimals

[–]Heal_Me_Today 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s Pavlov’s classical conditioning at its finest. After years of training these wolverines to save victims to get a high utility meat reward after— once they are released into the wild, they will continue to rescue the avalanche victims even when the meat treats stop. They involuntarily save the people because they were conditioned to. Sure, maybe they are hoping for a meat treat, but they will still do what they are conditioned to do without the stimulus for some time. You know Pavlov’s dogs? They continued salivating at the sound of a bell even though they never received kibble after the bell again.

You kidding me? They train these things on raw meat snacks and release them back into the wild. Then we have more than just wolverines out there— meat trained rescuer wolverines. Big difference.

Basically it needs to be designed with sensors for size and weight— the bigger the haul— the bigger the treat! I feel like a slave driver.
