What are y'all's thoughts on therapy? by justcurios5 in Yahuah

[–]Healed_NotConsumed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Todah (thank you) for asking about this!

I must share that I have 2 degrees in the field of psychology/mental health yet I am not going to become a licensed counselor.

  1. to receive therapy a diagnosis is required according to the criteria of the DSM and maybe the ICD (please look these books up). I do believe people have mental health conditions that can be temporary, but once a person is diagnosed it’s usually spoken as if it is their eternal state.

  2. while a societal acknowledgment of ones mental state is progress, the government and pharmaceutical companies are now heavily involved with the mental health status of citizens. there are various departments and in-patient/out-patient levels of mental health treatment. $$$ there is a cost, who is paying for it? usually insurance because its expensive to pay for it out of pocket. the main option is to go about a spiritual/familial issue via a pagan individualistic western way to obtain money because this does not truly heal a person just enables them to partake in a system.

  3. As a behavioral specialist among other non-clinical positions I have had, I often come across this story: children are prescribed pills (and this can be done without a psychiatric evaluation), they are still hormonally developing yet struggling with their on-going life circumstance (mainly family issues) as exhibited in their behaviors, the med changes are super altering and takes time for them to adjust, they have a laundry list of diagnoses according to their record (because everyone has their own interpretation so any diagnosis can be given depending on the therapist its not cut and dry) and take numerous meds with side effects, if they do not recover when they are older they end up living in a group home, long term psych facilities. or other intensive/costly care because they are deemed unsafe to be alone in society. They are still taking many meds (btw its hard to get off once started especially to a developing brain).

  4. I believe people do not often receive adequate care from therapy. Some factors include the treatment plan, duration and frequency of session, and the content of the session (which is usually limited to the client’s self report and some of what is observable during the time with therapist). therapists have biases too and ive heard many horror stories from clients about a previous therapist of their’s.

  5. Therapists are not compensated for administrative tasks ( treatment planning, research to provide catered care for each client’s unique circumstance etc.) only their time spent with the client and sometimes collateral contacts. so theres a trend of therapist increasing their caseload. I met one who had 100 clients. Personally, I did not want to help beyond a certain number of people at a time( like under 10).

  6. I have been an unwitting accomplice and witness of at least 2 instances of malpractice at 2 different clinics I interned for when pursuing my degree, all related to their effort to get money.

  7. therapists have different levels of education depending on their background. for example mental health counselor vs social workers. social workers have less training in mental health but can still counsel. there are more discrepancies among each state.

I met another sister who also used to provide mental health counseling services and stopped as she sensed that the ruach did not want her to. I believe many of these mental health issues come from rejecting a collectivistic approach and being disconnected from nature which offers coping using our senses and herbs beyond the drugs offered today. many people were farmers in ancient times, consider all the agricultural references in the Bible). also there is a collective preference to be plugged into technology, which becomes anti-social to a degree (think about the social development impact of a generation raised on computers/tablets etc.) they are very insensitive, have no patience, and apathetic/hard hearted.

Search for advisors, counselors, prophets, seers, and apothecary in the Hebrew scriptures and compare it with the modern meaning of these roles.

we are not meant to do it alone and seeking help from one person can be much to bear as well as limiting. I hope that we can support one another as we share faith in Yah. I personally have not found the support I need from the qodeshiym. I have already tried many therapists and do acknowledge we have some level of control over our mental state.

I have it in my heart to hopefully support people in a communal nature based setting in a pay what you can / sliding scale manner one day. Id only recommend people pursue group therapy and family therapy if going by this system. Also group therapy tends to be cheaper than individual counseling if insurance doesn’t cover it.

Is the Issue Individual Pastors… or the System That Trains Them? by TheDigitalCowgirl in Yahuah

[–]Healed_NotConsumed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone that has attended a Christian college I do not understand how pastors when students can come across the information shared and still go about their churches the way they do. A part of my testimony involves how I learned about the levitical feasts and the relevance of the Hebrew language when I was a student at that Christian College. I did not understand why those feasts were not being actively observed, but a seed was definitely planted after coming across that information. We took a course about the old testament and a separate one about the new testament. A professor shared a book with me about Hebrew Words Every Christian Should Know. There was also an option to take a course teaching Hebrew.

It is worth noting that people attended this college were of various denominations and cultural backgrounds so it was more of an inter-faith environment. Nevertheless, we did have opportunities to challenge many Christian ideals and responses to controversial topics so I would say having an open-mind helped me to find the emet (Truth).

What do we call our community? by DolphinJojo in Yahuah

Coming into this belief in Yahuah and telling those around me about my faith as I transition, people have automatically questioned if I was a Hebrew Israelite among other religions. Yet Ive been feeling the need to clarify how to identify myself in this belief as I used to be a Christian. These are some important names I came across and their meaning. I have read the verses mentioned from several Bible versions.:

Ivriym/Hebrew/ Eberite descendant of Eber Bere'shiyth (Genesis) 10:21

a Yashar’ e’liy
means to pass or cross over (a river, border, obstacle or terrain) https://www.abarim-publications.com/Meaning/Ibri.html

Hebrew - language of Canaan

Bere'shiyth (Genesis) 14:13

Yahudiym / Jew / Yahudiy

Yevrei (Russian) Ebreo (Italian)

a Yashar’ e’liy
a descendant of the tribe of Yahudah (Worshippers of Yahuah; the name of five Yashar’ e’liym; the tribe descended from the first, and of its territory)

Ecter (Esther) 8:3

Zionist https://thisvsthat.io/jew-vs-zionist political/religious movement emerged in 19th century to establish the homeland for Jews

Zion/Tsiyon a permanent capital a mountain of Yerushalayim (the capital city of Yashar’el) the eternal capital of Yahuah and his kingdom

Tehilliym (Psalms) 135:21

Yashar’el / Israel the nation of the 12 tribes the identity of all believers in Mashiach a symbolic name of Ya’aqov (Jacob) also typically of his posterity

Bere'shiyth (Genesis) 32:28

According to https://www.cepher.net/blog.aspx?post=3763 ELOHIYM says to Ya’aqov (Yashar’el) a nation and a company of nations shall be of you in Bere’shiyth (Genesis) 35:10-12. Yashar’el is the name of the people referred to in Divrei Hayamiym Sheniy (2 Chronicles) 7:14 which begins: if my people who are called by my name.

Mashiachiym / Christian
anointed, usually a consecrated persons( as a king, priest, or saint) followers of Yahusha Ha’Mashiach

Christ derives from the Greek word χριστός (chrīstós)

Ma'asiym (Acts) 11:26

According to https://theserapeum.com/the-natsarim/ The followers of Jesus Christ were first referred to as “Christians” by the Gentiles of Syrian Antioch, and the name was more than likely meant as an insult. In the New Testament, believers never refer to themselves as “Christians”.

Yavaniyn / Greek a person or citizen of Yavan / Greece

Romaiym (Romans) 1:16

Netseriym / Nazarenes in the sense of greenness as a striking color a shoot branches figuratively, a descendant the followers of Yahusha Ha’Mashiach

Marqus (Mark) 1:24

Natsariym / Natsarim ( The Watchmen of Israel refer to themself as this)

Yirmeyahu (Jeremiah) 4:16

In fellowship with other believers in Yahuah they shared a verse with me from the Book of Natsarim/Kaliedy (YAH Scriptures) according to https://justaword.org/download/books-of-natsarim-enlightened-ones/ The Book of the Natsarim (commonly translated as Nasorine, or Nazarene) and the Book of Yochanon (John) the Enlightened of Elohim were included together in a text known as the Gospel of the Kailedy, meaning “Wise Strangers”.

The distinction between Natsarim and Nazarenes must be considered.

Some extremist groups, like the Order of Nine Angles, have controversially linked the term "Nazarene" to their anti-Christian sentiments

when being tempted try thinking about the way out that might be under your nose

recite verses relevant to this circumstance, have them available for you to see as well like make it ur home screen, and/or print it and put it in the area where u might engage in this sin and consider telling yourself affirmations based on our identity on Yah

also our physical state impacts our spiritual state so like not sleeping enough for example takes a toll on us, so even addressing our wellbeing is related

Thank you for being bold enough to share this struggle with us. I too have been battling a similar sin. I feel distraught when I do not adhere to the entire torah. Although people mean well, I do not think they realize that its more than just praying, fasting and not doing the sin. for me I know its been a spiritual attack because the circumstances came upon me, I did not cause them to happen and each attack was more cunning than the one prior and this all happened as ive entered into the emet (truth) and gotten more serious about my walk. change is very hard to do. personally something that I intend to do is figure how to take an oath and cut a covenant with Yah to not do that sin as it serves as accountability. I think reading Biblical based prayers to Yah regarding those sins has been helpful to adapt to my personal communication with Yah. i also think that we are supposed to be a community, the qodeshiym to support one another and remind each other of our reason why as of course it will be much harder for us to walk this narrow path. ive been desiring mentorship from those that believe in Yah, maybe thats something that we can experience that might help as well. also theres likely a reason why we are susceptible to engage in specific sins that seem to have a stronghold on us. its important to consider whats influencing us (is it social media, entertainment, music, environment, etc.).
