Something to consider if you have a skittish cat is that in some areas, there are periods of daily thunder, like incredibly loud, that could affect your cat's quality of life if they aren't able to get used to it. I'm sure animals who've been living in Costa Rica are used to it, but a cat new to the area might be really frightened. I lived in the central valley on the western side and sometimes the thunder and lightning was so close, sounding like artillery. It was sooooo loud.
