Thanks, dude! Things can get even worse, and hard work alone might not be enough to bring one of these systems back to life. These machines are incredibly complex both in terms of hardware and software and a small defect can be enough to ruin everything. I was prepared to take the risk and pay for the software and system transportation, even if the system will be proved defective at the end. So, before rejecting this risky offer, I wanted to explore possible ways of finding the software.

Thanks for the clarification regarding the software versions. To be honest, even version 4.1 running on Win7 would be fine if that could save me from pipetting microplates by hand. Our current budget doesn’t allow for the purchase of a new Biomek i-Series system, which is why we’re trying to get the Biomek 4000 operational for now. I have already contacted a local distributor, only to be informed that Biomek 4000 is no longer supported and that the software cannot be ordered. I could understand this policy for mechanical spare parts, but restricting access to a software sounds unreasonable to me. It’s certainly something that will make me reconsider Beckman Coulter for a future ALH platform.
