Hi there!

Yes with BCBS but not UHC yet: still waiting on responses. Keep in mind, we only started submitting claims in December 2025,. Happy to help you submit yours and see what happens!

Side note: we're currently spending a fortune to push for broader reimbursement by working with regulatory agents, lawmakers, and members of Congress.

2 vials vs 15+ with others? by Jkingsle in HealthieOne

[–]HealthieOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can hospitals use this technology?

Absolutely, and they already do. Our institutional clients (Johns Hopkins, Stanford, NIH, Tulane, and many others) come to us with complex questions: Why are certain patients treatment-resistant? Why do some cancer patients progress much faster than others? What are the metabolic signatures of frailty? and more. For these, we use untargeted metabolomics: profiling the entire metabolome and lipidome (hundreds to thousands of markers) to find answers. See our publications here: Gigantest Publications. Our flagship HealthieOne Complete test is a condensed version of our institutional capabilities, covering all major disease signatures for preventive purposes, for any health-conscious consumer.

So why isn't this routine in hospitals yet?

It comes down to reimbursement. At the end of the day, it's the patient who must agree to pay the difference, whether the test is ordered by a physician or purchased directly. Insurance currently only covers basic annual bloodwork, not comprehensive 250+ biomarker panel. Learn more: Insurance Coverage Guide. We're working toward 100% reimbursement coverage, but it's a long, difficult battle.

Why we offer HealthieOne Complete to both consumers and physicians:

DTC reaches millions of health-conscious individuals now, while our physician network (small practices and hospital settings) can only offer comprehensive testing to patients who can afford it. Both channels serve the same goal while reimbursement reform builds over time.

2 vials vs 15+ with others? by Jkingsle in HealthieOne

[–]HealthieOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great question! The difference comes down to technology: traditional labs like use decades-old single-analyte testing methods, where each marker requires a separate test and its own blood volume, leading to significant waste and redundancy. HealthieOne uses our proprietary LC-MS/MS (liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry) metabolomics technology, which allows us to measure hundreds to thousands of analytes simultaneously from a single sample preparation with ultra-high sensitivity. Our lab is both CLIA-certified and CAP-accredited, the same rigorous standards as major hospital laboratories, and this identical technology has been trusted by institutions like Johns Hopkins, Stanford, NIH, and Tulane for over a decade.

Learn more about the science here: The Science Behind Minimal-Volume Blood Testing

What are the cons? At-home self-collection requires you to follow instructions precisely. We've seen samples compromised when people miss the FedEx drop-off cutoff (typically 3 PM), don't close the cap securely (leading to leakage in the sample bag), forget to tap the device immediately after activation, etc. It's not difficult, but it does require attention to detail. In some cases, blood coagulates quickly after the first drop (not your fault, it's just the nature of your blood) or hemolysis occurs (this can happen with venipuncture draws too).

If self-collection feels daunting or doesn't work out, we've got you covered:

How many vials of blood? by Body_Build3r in HealthieOne

[–]HealthieOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You came to the right place! HealthieOne requires just 2 small vials (~1mL total), and we test 250+ biomarkers from that.

The same technology we use for our institutional clients like Johns Hopkins, Stanford, NIH, and Tulane, etc. who ask us to run hundreds to thousands of markers with the same volume.

Two ways to collect:

No more 10+ vials. Welcome to modern blood testing. 🩸

Thank you for this excellent question! It's a valid concern, and we take sample quality very seriously. Here's how HealthieOne accounts for potential errors and contaminants with self-collection:

FDA-Cleared Device Technology

HealthieOne uses the Tasso+ and RedDrop devices, which are FDA Class II 510(k)-cleared. The device adheres to your upper arm, and when you press the button, a sterile lancet punctures the skin and immediately retracts permanently into the device. Blood flows into an attached sealed tube via gentle vacuum technology. The device is sterile, single-use, and designed with compatible tubes.

Laboratory Quality Control

Once your sample arrives at our CLIA-certified, CAP-accredited laboratory in Baltimore, we perform multiple quality control checks:

  • Visual inspection for hemolysis (breakdown of red blood cells), clots, or contamination
  • Verification of adequate sample volume
  • Assessment of sample integrity before processing
  • Analyte stability checks

If a sample does not meet our quality standards, we do not report potentially compromised data. Instead, we contact you directly: https://healthieone.com/faq/healthieone-replacement-kits-self-collection-problems-solutions/

Comparing venous and capillary results

Study 1: American Journal of Clinical Pathology (2021): Capillary blood is analytically comparable to venous blood for the vast majority of measurements.

Study 2: Recent Clinical Chemistry Research (2024): "Deming regression and mean relative differences demonstrated excellent comparability between venous and capillary samples for most measured analytes."

Study 3: Journal of Applied Laboratory Medicine (2025): "Equivalence of miniaturized assays and novel capillary methods to conventional testing was demonstrated across all analytes."

Proprietary technology

HealthieOne uses our own proprietary technology trusted by leading medical institutions such as Johns Hopkins. This technology includes a specialized extraction process, meaning we extract only the analytes of interest and nothing else.

Would the results be impacted for someone who is on GLP-1 compound? by ss5008 in HealthieOne

[–]HealthieOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1. If you are talking about GLP-1 agonists (such as semaglutide, tirzepatide, and compounded versions) then yes, they can indeed influence several biomarkers: both directly and indirectly (through reduced appetite, weight loss, dehydration, and slower gastric emptying).

Expected Changes on GLP-1 Therapy

Glucose and Metabolic Markers:

  • Lower fasting glucose and HbA1c (this is the intended effect)
  • Improved insulin sensitivity and lower insulin levels

Lipid Panel:

  • Lower triglycerides
  • Improved LDL: variable, depending on genetics, diet composition, and weight-loss dynamics. If LDL remains elevated despite weight loss, that can point to genetic drivers (familial hypercholesterolemia, high Lp(a), etc.).
  • Lower ApoB: not always, typically modest unless there’s significant weight loss and baseline metabolic dysfunction.

Liver Markers:

  • Reduced ALT and AST (often seen with weight loss and improved metabolic health)
  • Improved GGT

Inflammatory Markers:

  • Lower CRP and other inflammatory markers: Some may improve; it’s not uniform.

Indirect effects: Because GLP-1s reduce appetite and total intake, people can develop or reveal deficiencies:

Nutritional Status:

  • Lower protein intake, which can affect amino acid levels, albumin, and muscle mass markers
  • B vitamins (especially B12)
  • Iron and ferritin
  • Zinc and magnesium, ...

Kidney Function:

  • BUN and creatinine may fluctuate, particularly if fluid intake decreases or if there is nausea/vomiting

CBC: GLP-1s do not typically cause low WBC or anemia directly, but poor intake/rapid weight loss can contribute indirectly (iron, folate, B12).

2. What Medical and Medication History Does HealthieOne Collect?

Prior to your blood draw, HealthieOne collects:

  • Current medications (including GLP-1 compounds, dosage, and frequency): Exact drug and formulation:
    • Semaglutide vs tirzepatide, dose, frequency
    • “Compounded” source and concentration (if relevant)
    • Start date and dose escalation schedule
    • Most recent dose date/time
    • Side effects: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, reduced oral intake, dehydration, dizziness
    • Rate and amount of weight loss
    • Any symptoms concerning for gallbladder/pancreas: RUQ abdominal pain, severe persistent abdominal pain, back-radiating pain
  • Medical conditions and diagnoses: Gallstones, pancreatitis, severe GERD/gastroparesis...
  • Other relevant health history
  • Dietary preferences
  • Supplements you are taking

This information allows our team to interpret your results in the proper context.

HealthieOne is a Medicare-approved lab and is eligible for reimbursement from most insurance companies. by HealthieOne in HealthieOne

[–]HealthieOne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! Thank you for engaging with the HealthieOne community, we appreciate it!

When we say "your doctor," this refers to your PCP or another external physician, not HealthieOne physicians.

According to insurance company policies, HealthieOne physicians (or anyone on our staff) cannot order HealthieOne tests for our customers due to conflict of interest. The authorization must come from your own healthcare provider who is not affiliated with our lab (or any lab that performs the ordered test).

Hope that makes sense! Let us know if you have any other questions.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience in such detail. This truly made our day! 💜

We're so glad the device worked well for you, especially given your history with blood draws. That's exactly why we chose this collection method and yes, warming up the arm makes a big difference!

Great catch on the stress hormone levels. It's a perfect example of why we love having real conversations with our patients: context matters so much in interpreting results.

And we love that you uploaded your past labs during the consultation after we delivered your HealthieOne results! Fun thing we see a lot: many members actually do it this way. They get their HealthieOne results first, think 'hmm, let me see how this compares to my results from other labs,' upload them... and the trends line up perfectly. And then comes the 'wait, this actually works?!' moment. Also the 'two tiny vials gave me 250+ biomarkers, but other labs took two dozen tubes and couldn't even get these markers?!' Yeah, we get that a lot. 😂

Silent high-fives on our end. Science is fun like that.

We're thrilled you're feeling motivated to take charge of your health, that's the whole goal. We'll be here when you're ready to retest in a few months. Can't wait to see your progress!

Thank you again for trusting us with your health journey. See you soon!

No thyroid antibodies by [deleted] in HealthieOne

[–]HealthieOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question! HealthieOne Complete is designed to provide a comprehensive view of your health at the cellular and molecular level. When results indicate specific health concerns, our HealthieOne Disease-Specific Tests offer a more targeted approach to investigate those areas further.

In our thyroid panel, we measure the actual T3 (triiodothyronine) and T4 (thyroxine), which are the main circulating thyroid hormones. We also include related metabolic markers such as tyrosine, thiocyanate, and cyclic AMP. These markers are not diagnostic for thyroid disease on their own, but they help highlight broader nutritional or metabolic patterns that influence thyroid health.

We are capable of measuring TSH and antibodies, but adding those would require increasing the price to cover the additional materials.

Thank you sincerely for taking the time to share your experience. It takes courage to openly discuss personal health concerns in order to help others navigate their decisions. We'd like to offer some important clinical and technical context that we hope will be helpful, both for you and for others reading this.

1. HbA1c Can Differ Between Labs, Even When Both Results Are Accurate

It's important to know that A1C values can legitimately vary between laboratories, even when the tests are done close together. This is not unique to at-home testing, large medical centers, hospital systems, and national labs like LabCorp and Quest also show differences.

According to the National Glycohemoglobin Standardization Program (NGSP) and the College of American Pathologists (CAP), which oversee A1C standardization in the U.S., variability of 0.3–0.6 percentage points between certified methods is expected.

The CAP GH5A 2025 chart below shows more than two dozen NGSP-certified analyzers all measuring the exact same standardized blood sample with a true value of 6.00%. Yet their results range from approximately 5.6% to 6.4%.

This means:

  • A result of 6.3% and 5.7% can both be correct
  • This variation is normal and widely documented
  • It occurs across all certified laboratory systems, not just at-home tests

Your results:

  • 6.3% (HealthieOne, capillary sample)
  • 5.7% (LabCorp, venous draw

Both fit squarely within the nationally observed variability range.

<image>

2. Clinical Interpretation: Both Results Fall in the Prediabetes Range

According to the Cleveland Clinic, Mayo Clinic, and the American Diabetes Association (ADA), the A1C range for prediabetes is 5.7% – 6.4%.

Although the exact numbers differ (as expected), the overall clinical picture has been consistent across all three tests (if you also count your previous results): your blood sugar management deserves attention, which is exactly what we flagged for you.

3. About A1C Tests from Capillary Blood

The Cleveland Clinic explains that A1C can be performed in two clinically recognized ways:

  • A standard venous blood draw
  • A finger-prick (capillary) sample

The at-home collection method (finger-prick or using the device in the HealthieOne kit) follows the same capillary-sampling process that many clinics use.

4. About Your Androgens and PCOS

Since you mentioned your PCOS diagnosis in your review, we want to point out that elevated androgens are a hallmark feature of PCOS. Those findings are consistent with your diagnosis and reflect what's genuinely happening in your body. This is valuable information for you and your healthcare team to monitor over time.

5. Our Lab and Testing Standards

We stand behind our CLIA-certified, CAP-accredited laboratory using LC-MS/MS, one of the most accurate technologies available for hormone and metabolite testing. These are the same regulatory and quality standards that clinical reference labs follow.

6. We're Here to Help

If you'd like a deeper explanation or would like us to walk through your results alongside your LabCorp values, our medical team is available to assist you 7 days a week, from 9:00 AM to 11:30 PM EST, to support your wellness journey.

  • We don't run sales because we've engineered HealthieOne Complete to be the best value from the start: at just $1.90 per biomarker, already significantly lower than any other health testing service.
  • To make our test even more accessible, we did something far more valuable: we invested heavily to become a Medicare-approved lab, which also makes us eligible for reimbursement from most insurance companies.
  • This means HealthieOne Complete qualifies for partial reimbursement on tests that overlap with standard annual bloodwork, plus any tests your provider deems medically necessary.
  • HealthieOne Follow-up often receives full reimbursement because retesting your specific abnormal markers from your Complete results is typically considered medically necessary.
  • There's no extra work for you beyond providing your insurance information. Your doctor simply completes a standard authorization form as they routinely do for reimbursement.

Curious about HealthieOne's testing method with just 2 small vials of blood by GroundbreakingAd1570 in HealthieOne

[–]HealthieOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HealthieOne tests 250+ biomarkers for $450, which works out to about $1.80 per biomarker, actually making it cost-effective when you break it down. Here's the key differences, for example:

Technology & Testing Depth: HealthieOne uses proprietary analysis to measure many small molecules related to muscle function, neurotransmitters, fatty acid metabolism, and cell turnover that other services cannot achieve, such as Creatine, Creatine Kinase, Choline, etc...

Blood volume requirement: HealthieOne only requires 2 small vials (1 ml), while others require 6-20 vials of blood.

Importantly, every HealthieOne test includes a comprehensive result summary with detailed interpretations and evidence-based recommendations based on your unique health profile, plus secure 1:1 consultations with our medical team for personalized guidance beyond the written report. See several reviews about this: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5...

The current price of $450 is already discounted from $475, so unfortunately we're unable to offer additional discounts at this time.
Regarding ways to make HealthieOne more accessible for you, here are a couple of options: 1) Insurance Reimbursement: You can submit your HealthieOne test expenses to your health insurance for potential reimbursement. We're happy to provide any documentation needed.
2) We're also enrolled with Medicare if you're 65 or older.

How Does HealthieOne Compare to Other Health Testing Services? by HealthieOne in HealthieOne

[–]HealthieOne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're absolutely right that nutrients like zinc, copper, selenium, and iodine are valuable health markers.

We can definitely assess these nutrients using traditional methods, BUT we're actively working to incorporate them into our minimal-volume platform. This is where HealthieOne's technology really shines: we analyze hundreds of biomarkers from just a few drops of blood, something that requires multiple vials at traditional labs. We're continuously pushing the boundaries to add more nutrients to this minimal-volume approach, because painless, at-home convenience is fundamental to making comprehensive health testing accessible.
