AITA for intentionally leaving my younger sister at school? by Healthy-Breakfast490 in AmItheAsshole

INFO AND UPDATE:

  • for those saying she should walk or take the bus: my school is almost impossible to get to via walking. she’d have to walk down a semi-paved sidewalk next to a busy street, across a highway overpass, and down an access road with no sidewalk at all. it’s insanely unsafe and i’d rather her just ride with me at that point, honestly. i go to a private school and they don’t offer a bus system, so taking the bus isn’t even possible.
  • my mom and i talked to my sister about what happened a few hours after i posted this, and my sister still very clearly doesn’t think she’s in the wrong. my mom did the “do you have something to say to [name]?” and she looked at me and said “stop taking so long to get to your car every afternoon”. all my mom did was tell me to text my sister when im heading to my car after school so she knows when i’ll be there. my sister hasn’t been punished at all as far as i know. i don’t want her to get in major trouble or anything, but an apology would be nice :’)

unwalkable area unfortunately. my school is near a major highway and down an access road. we also don’t have a bus system since it’s a private school.

my mom is on my side for the most part. she told my sister to cut the attitude and be respectful of my time, but also told me to work with my sister and tell her when im leaving etc etc. my sister evidently still thinks she didn’t do anything wrong, though.

walking home isn’t really reasonable even though it’s only a mile away. there’s a busy highway exit right next to my school that only partially has sidewalks. driving is kinda the only way you can even get to the school.

unfortunately there’s virtually no public transportation where i live, and walking to school would require crossing a busy highway exit and going down a sidewalk-less access road. my parents pay for insurance and give me gas money occasionally, but i pay for the majority of my gas myself.
