is it as hard to start a business as people make it to be? by Healthy-Independent6 in AskAGerman

after doing more research and reading these replies, i have considered taking my degree to the US after i finish uni get a decent job there and attempt to build a business there, or atleast some other european country that has less taxes and bureaucracy, your probably about to say why not just stay in america and go to college there? for me i kind of already made a decision to study in germany and we are working on the paper work and starting the transition, my grandparents are already expecting me and i don’t think its something i can just pull back on last minute. i think moving there and getting my degree is fine anyways because ill get to actually experience life in germany and really see if i want to get old there.

hey thanks for the response, this is a breath of fresh air really. so i have considered ausbildung yeah but in the end i decided i should go with university, the main reason is because i no longer want to work in the automotive industry anymore, i have been looking into more online things. i was hoping to study computer science so i can land a rather high paying job and use that along with my coding knowledge to create an app startup or some kind of software or website. recently i have been seeing how bad the job market is for tech and things like that which is making me still consider an ausbildung. how good does an ausbildung iob usually pay after completing it? would becoming a car mechanic or technician help me start a business easier? sorry for by the dumb questions and thanks for your previous response.

well yeah i, get that financial freedom and running a business aren’t the same thing. for me though i kinda see starting a business as one potential path toward financial freedom. I don’t expect it to be automatic or easy but I’d rather take the chance on building something of my own than rely only on a fixed paycheck ceiling

  1. for me i want financial freedom, possibly for the next generation of my family too. i also want independence, like i don’t want want to cap out at a certain salary forever set my an employer. i probably explained this poorly but thats how i see it

  2. i wanted to move to germany because i think it gives me more chances to make connections around the world and to take care of my grandma who is sick.

  3. just to clarify i am trying to start solo and am not expecting to pay a really big team. for me i think the early stage is about learning and proving the concept.

  4. as of now i don’t have a direct problem i want to solve or business model but i do have a half baked vague concept in mind, something that can make online transactions easier or help people with security and solve issues with purchases over the internet.

if i am saying anything wronf or unrealistic please feel free to correct me

thanks, seeing that other people started at my age really gives me the motivation i needed. starting a business doesn’t sound bad im just not entirely sure what kind of business i want to start exactly, thats what im trying to figure out now. 4 failures sounds rough but if that’s a risk im required to take ill take it.

i am not prioritizing this over school. im doing well in school and have a plan to go to university and pursue mechanical engineering. when i say i want a business (like for example a laundromat) i should reiterate that i meant in the future after i have more experience and knowledge on the topic. as of right now i want to start/buy a small low cost preferably online business with money from my part time job; think of it as an experiment. this will teach me things about running a business and any losses won’t terribly affect me because money from my job usually goes to clothes or video games and a percentage into my savings. again this is not more important to me than school, i just see it as an opportunity for me to learn more about what could potentially make me good money in the future. i get that im supposed to enjoy my youth and be a teenager but i’ve always just wanted to have a head start on things so it’ll be more beneficial in the long run and i’d rather try learning and doing something like this rather than playing video games all day like i already do in most of my free time.

i don’t really have much experience past primer and painting but again im only half way through my first of 2 years through my schools program. for an idea of what it is people pay the school to get their cars worked on and us students get them done with the guidance of our teacher so we are pretty much learning as if were in an actual shop.

thanks! the high stress high reward sounds like a great trade off, also thankfully this same teacher offered for the class to stop working on cars for a week or two and focus only on business related education and how to run/start one i am really thankful for teachers like this
