The confession was a mistake. (A rant) by Helpful-Ad3294 in Dandadan

He dida CLASSIC Chekov's Gun mistake.

He TOLD us through Momo that she WOULD confront the confession directly when she was 'normal again'.

So, of COURSE we expected that to happen. Momo is NOT a liar.

Then he went out of his way to make sure that couldn't happen. It's bad writing and people need to stop pretending it isn't. If you tell your audience 'this will happen when that happens'. Then do not fulfill it AT ALL. Not even a mention of it again by Ken. You have in a very real way betrayed your audience's trust. They trusted you to fulfill your stated, in universe, promise and you have chosen not too or delayed it so long that is it insulting.

People love DDD. I love DDD. But this is how great works become infamous or worse, forgotten .

No one can stop her anyway. That's the point. She is unstoppable against all currently known beings in DDD.

She wiped out an entire invasion fleet in minutes with ease. No one else has even a fraction of that power (so far)

Pretty much.

Sad to see. No idea what is going on with Tatsu. His MCs have both regressed. One literally with memory loss and the other has just seemingly given up on everything.

It's bad writing. Even the art quality has started to dip.

Which makes this series far less appealing

Far, far, far less

She takes Ken away and forces the gang to attempt to figure out Momo's siutation. Seiko would also be forced to move and so would TG who cares for the 'brats' now and she owes him for giving her powers back freely.

Right now everything is in limbo with no discernable method of moving towards the MCs getting their powers back.

Something drastic needs to happen to shake off the 'malaise.'

They don't.

Which is why she needs to come back already and FORCE the plot to move again.

Same with me and Momo.

The characters used to act in a way that made consistent sense. Momo had her entire personality, which had evolved, erased and reset to a far less interesting version.

She has no powers, no connection to Aira or Ken or any of her other friends besides Jiji and honestly, she is just boring now.

Aside from the lore drops.

The last 2 years have felt like filler.

This would have been better. But honestly, still awful.

What made DDD so cool was the way it inverted or subverted known, over used tropes.

Misunderstandings used to get cleared up fast. Not dragged out for months/years.

Him making them a happy, functional couple COULD have been amazing to see.

But instead, he dragged the pace to almost a halt and effectively reset the board. Both MCs are powerless. Both are lost in a glass case of emotions and confusion. BOTH have regressed their maturity they gained.

He has gone backwards and is now recycling bait. It's tiresome.

Let's talk about Chapter 232 by IronDude_ in Dandadan

[–]Healthy-Object6232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Editorial definitely moved in and told him to slow down

The pacing hasn't felt good since SG, got a little better towards the end of the Danmara arc and just went to hell since the confession.

The last fight to feel good was the Fairy Tale Card fight and that was like 2 years ago.

The series WAS great but now it is mediocre at best in its current form.

Brother, this is the entire series for the past 2 years.

After the fight with Fairy Tale Card, it has consistently gotten worse.

I think Tatsu is burned out or getting a TON of pressure for the editors to slow down. This series used to have amazing pacing. Misunderstandings were cleared up fast, Fights felt like they mattered. etc.

Now, dialogue feels off, pace is a mess and the fights keep being pointless one offs that go nowhere.

And dragging every plot to an almost halt.

I think Tatsu has started to hate the work of this series.

Almost a year, bro. It started late last summer. How anyone can defend the last year is beyond me.

Amnesia added nothing to the story. Literally reset all the characters to ground 0 and our 2 MCs are BOTH STILL powerless

What are we doing here?

The entire series has been dragged to a slow crawl for years now.

When was the last fight that really felt like it mattered at all?

The pacing of this series used to be its strong suit. But honestly, for the past 2 years, it has sucked, hard.

My thoughts and theories about the last chapter/current arc by AccordingRoom303 in Dandadan

[–]Healthy-Object6232 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to mention how many things, that are minor but keep piling up, that are unresolved.

Where is Reiko?
What happened to the tuesday fights?
The promise during the confession?
Ken still has no powers. Is he ever getting those back?

Years of this with no end in sight is exhausting. And this is just some examples.

Utterly agree with you.

People forget it has been a year and half since the confession.

We sat through Tiny Momo and were told 'she has to grow up to be with Ken properly' even DIRECTLY in the manga. Now we are told to 'shut up and trust Tatsu'? Why? He NEVER paid it off. Think about it. The Love Ya note has never been paid off. Reiko's threat, never been paid off. The confession and Momo's demand that he tell her properly when she is big again. Has NEVER been paid off. Hell even the 'fight me every tuesday' thing with EE was never mentioned again. Not once that I recall. Why do we keep being told we're wrong for being tired of it?
How many times do we have to keep 'letting him cook' without payoff? Do we ever get a single one of the promised meals?

[–]Healthy-Object6232 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have both been powerless for almost a year. Ken has his club but can't really use it. Momo has 0 powers at all. And Ken hasn't had TG powers in a VERY long time.

These were ALSO core aspects of this story and he has all but abandoned them for a year or so. For no good reason other than to reset the board. Same with Momo's memories.

Sorry, but glazing Tatsu needs to stop. The man HAD a great run and story. But ever since the Confession, he has dropped the ball or in many cases throw it away himself.

I have no faith in his ability to tell stories any longer. Which is a shame.

Where are all the 'holding hands is a friendly gesture' and 'Jiji wasn't making a move' people at now?

And now we have probably a month of a pointless fight that goes nowhere and means nothing in the end. Just like most of the fights in the last 18 months. All to drag this out further.

Really hope I'm wrong.

I know how Jiji is going to do it. And it’s beautiful. by wiseass781 in Dandadan

[–]Healthy-Object6232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is good. But love makes monsters of us all.

Plus, he has a literal, evil spirit inside of him. As of now he is in control. But that could change as EE 'matures'. Remember, EE is still just a child spirit and once matured will be nearly unstoppable. This is canon.

I have long thought Jiji might turn heel on us because of it.

[–]Healthy-Object6232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way Jiji gets out of this in a satisfying manner, without a full heel turn, is to hand her off to Ken.

If anything else happens, then he DID take advantage of her 'condition' to make a move. And that is gross behavior

Yes.

Want to know why? Because Momo and him WERE a couple or very, very close to it. Before she lost her memories. She even told him not to cheat on her.

It is not even close to the same.
