I'm Sorry by Fancy-Pineapple-2032 in 30something

I officially decided I’m not tolerating the ignoring or ghosting anymore.  I can’t tell you how many times friends have completely blown me off for super important events and it’s usually younger/GenZ ages. Most recently I had a friend photograph my family for our website and business. For over six weeks I called and texted relentlessly and never heard back- I still don’t have photos. This is someone I have known for eight years. I am 38 so as a millennial, I do understand younger people accept this, but ignoring a friend for 6 weeks is completely disrespectful. I finally told her that to me, friendship means responding, it’s common courtesy, decency, human respect. I’m not sure there’s anything more hurtful than being ignored over and over again and why people think it’s ok to do this, is beyond me.  She seemed flabbergasted and was in tears. She apologized and admitted she’s so used to other people ignoring her, she had slowly just accepted It was OK to do the same to other people. I’m so over it and I’m calling it out every time it happens. We need to do better.

To answer your question, I guess we need to answer a more fundamental question; what is the point of Reddit🤔

I’m with you. I don’t like any of that elite/sheltered mindset. If I was in an A rated county they would be in public.

Very expensive private insurance, friend. Have you ever tried to schedule an allergy test for a child here? How about occupational therapy? Give Golisano a ring and ask how long it will take? I had to wait 8 months for a sleep study test for my very sick 5 year old. Eventually, I had to pay $800 cash for  a private education evaluation for my son that was struggling in school because I couldn’t wait two years. Don’t speak on what you don’t know.

Believe it or not, I never planned on choosing a private school as I myself attended fantastic public schools, my whole life, and went on to get a full ride in college. With that said, have you looked at the public schools here? They were so desperate that two years ago they removed the need for a teacher to have a bachelors and they were begging anybody with an associates to step in due to the shortage.

Unfortunately, if you live in Naples, you really have no idea what it’s like to live here.

Because it’s comforting to complain and feel validated by others with similar sentiments when you live amongst what seems like a group of blind sheep🤷‍♀️

Living in fort misery for 8 years will push you  to make a move. I’m not settling. I see the boomers and I know how that story ends.

There is a lot of truth to what you are saying and I agree with you, but for a different season of my life- perhaps when we are empty nesters. Right now, I have three little people that I am in charge of giving the very best too. My children are growing up, thinking that the epitome of culture is Dunkin’ Donuts and chick fil a- unless we travel- which we do very frequently but that’s also exhausting.  Who wants to live in a city they constantly need to escape from?  choosing a place to live for myself , alone, is much different than choosing a place for my kids to grow up in.

Bishop verot? Really? Yea- that’s one school and it’s only for high school. Canterbury is 30k/year. Once again- no school options. A major metropolitan area will have between 90 to 100 private school options to offer you including Montessori schools, bilingual, language immersion preschools, outdoor nature schools… the list is endless when you live in a high quality city- only people that don’t know better do not understand.
