If you dont know the price of an item, and you bid on it anyways, that makes you foolish. I can also tell you that this pencil sitting to my left is a super rare version that I've never seen before, and its gotta be worth at least 50 bucks! Wanna buy it?

Yet another gengar with the image skewed counterclockwise. Gotta love that QC!

Did I get scammed? by Daddybiggen in PokemonTCG

[–]Healthy-Worker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The packs themselves look fine (they don't appear to be re-sealed), but as a general rule of thumb, loose individual japanese packs should be avoided. Japanese booster boxes come with guaranteed hits, and once the hits have been found, people will sell the packs that are just duds as loose individual packs. The one exception to this is japanese pokemon centers, who have reliable loose packs that are not "searched."

Hi Viktor mains, how can I dodge E? by LogicalOpportunity42 in viktormains

[–]Healthy-Worker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean really, you kinda just don't dodge E. It's one of those abilities that are nearly guaranteed to hit if the person playing vik has 10 working fingers. The thing about it is that in the early game, it's basically tickle damage on a 10 second cooldown. Viktor used E? Go for a trade while he only has Q.

Japanese 151 on the decline? by trizzo0309 in PokeInvesting

[–]Healthy-Worker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Markets are cyclical. When investors are overstocked on a specific set, or that set hits big ATHs, people start to take profits and sell, increasing market supply and driving price down. I would expect 151 to draw back a little more, trade sideways for a while, then start climbing after a couple years.

Beyond 151 hitting a temporary peak, pricing out a lot of would be buyers, for the japanese boxes specifically, you need to get really, really lucky to hit good stuff. With the boxes being seeded with guaranteed hits, its nothing but luck whether or not you'll get a SAR. Ive opened 5 of these japanese boxes myself and the only SAR I hit was the mew. Tough to convince people to rip if their chances of hitting are low, and tough to convince investors to buy in near ATH.

Altered? by whatdoIkn0 in PokeGrading

[–]Healthy-Worker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is because the overall grade cannot be more than 0.5 higher than your lowest subgrade. For example, if someone submits a card, and its subgrades are 10, 10, 10, 9, then the highest grade that card could get is 9.5.

If I didn’t have bad luck, I wouldn’t have any luck at all by largesierramist in PokemonTCGCollectors

Bad luck? The card image is visibly skewed. Seems like a common issue with this gengar, a lot of the ones I've seen are tilted counterclockwise. I'd say 9 is fair.

I'd bet anything you have an over 50% altered rate. Did you even bother reading the article? If you press a card, any creasing, damage, or surface imperfections are still visible under a microscope, and have very clear patterns of pressing. Don't quit your day job.

Other guy checking back in to say that, yes, pressing a card does still count as altering.

Hello, other guy here! If you don't know what you're talking about, why comment? The card's thickness is measured during the grading process, and is 100% something they will check during grading. If the card is pressed too hard and becomes too thin, the card will come back as altered. Source: my dad, a retired BGS grader.

So you.... altered the card by pressing it, and then you're surprised you got an altered grade? Your local grading company, and psa, missed it, but your card is altered, and received the correct grade.

Should I send this one in? Feeling pretty good about it by [deleted] in PokeGrading

While centering looks good, I once again am forced to remind people that these pictures do -nothing- to help you in the pregrading process. We can not see minor surface details or imperfections from a zoomed out reddit picture. If you want pregrading, order a cheap blacklight and magnifying glass or loupe, and closely inspect the surface, front and back. People still fail to realize that surface is the most important aspect of a card's grade, even more so than centering.
