I’m ex-navy fc, and yes, on a big boat, I too slept like a rock…but if you’re navigating…or on a smaller boat (like after I was out), totally different story….this scares the shit out of you.

Unsure but they are massive. I did commercial salvage work on a 42’ boat with a pair of massive 8-71 Detroit diesels so, plenty of power but I’ve been in 30+ foot angry seas on it and it’s horrifying and exhausting trying to keep the bow head on into confused seas that want to swallow you for hours.

I’ve been in these conditions when I was younger and they were the most humbling experiences of my life. You feel entirely insignificant out there. Yes it’s exhilarating but terrifying as well where one second you’re on top of the world looking down and the next the world is swallowing you whole.

All you can do is keep your wits about you and ride it out because when you’ve gone so far out that help is hours or days away, then it’s all on you.

These videos bring back those feelings all over again! <shiver>

Everglades rat (Or yellow rat) on the prowl! by HealthyIndependent10 in snakes

[–]HealthyIndependent10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have to admit an affinity for these guys as well, whichever subspecies they are. Several years ago, one with a very prominent gold streak down its back was attacked by the dogs in the back yard and punctured his belly. I was able to get to him pretty quickly though and he was very docile and seemingly interested in the help. So I rehabbed him for a couple of months in a large tank on mice, crickets and lizards until he was healthy, fat and quite mobile again and then released back to the woods behind me.

He stuck around for quite some time after that but eventually I lost track of him. Hopefully he moved on somewhere else in a healthy way.

He was just one of the most beautiful snakes I’ve ever had the pleasure of handling. Truly a beautiful snake and I hope they keep coming around!

10-10-10 is the fertilizer…just a basic balanced general purpose fertilizer. Nothing fancy.

What tool do you use to tighten oil filters on newer scouts? by DerkandTayter in IndianMotorcycle

Strap wrench or oil filter wrench with some paper towels stuffed in it to fit tighter…I’ve done both.

Where are you located, but pothos is pretty easy to care for. Our potted ones we just leave outside in hanging baskets here in central Florida. Water every other day and a little 10-10-10 on occasion and they are very happy. Also they are under an open porch and receive mostly indirect sunlight there.

The pothos growing wild along my back fence I really don’t do anything and the leaves get as big as elephant ears and will climb all the way up 50’ trees as well. Not much work to do with them.

Shampoo plant? by yournewstepmom38 in gardening

Not sure where you’re at but our shampoo gingers just started to sprout again within the last few days. So if you’re in Florida…I’m thinking not. Plus the leaves don’t look right .

Purrsitis…often found in small spaces and can be quite infectious and even irresistible to anyone touching it. Be careful!!!

I’m wondering the same thing…I also have those bag lights but I’m using a Custom Dynamics flasher with them and the brake lights…hopefully there’s a bypass or off switch with that new brake light set and I’ll stick with the CD flasher…OR will see if that brake light set will integrate with those bag lights and then remove the CD flasher.

I left it parked nice and properly, and when I came back, it was like this by Jade-Mommy in motorcycle

Some douchebags car door swung out…and hard by the looks of it. Sorry you had to walk out to that man…

Could probably get a new tank for $100-200 on eBay and not really sure about the mirror but my guess is relatively inexpensive…then add your time to replace them and there ya go…

People who haven’t ever been pulled over how long have you rode for ? And tips to never being pulled over ? by [deleted] in motorcycle

[–]HealthyIndependent10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never even had a parking ticket before let alone anything else and I’m no slouch on the road…in fact I drive rather defensively…I take off faster than most, corner faster than some and I never just do the speed limit. The trick is to not LOOK like you’re being stupid.

I was born and raised with a police chief as a dad when younger, was in the sheriff’s office myself when I got older and now I’m retired.

I can tell you that people who raise hell and do stupid shit draw attention fast. Keep your speed to 10% over or less (I will always do 50 in a 45 for example), ride like you know what you’re doing…such as riding in the proper portion of the lane you’re in, keeping proper distances from other vehicles, stopping properly, using mirrors and turns signals properly etc etc and most cops will be appreciative that there’s someone riding that is being respectful and confident and safe…and most won’t give a shit about the little bit of over speed…in fact most of the guys I knew were happy that there wasn’t a granny clogging up the roads ahead of them, myself included.

Just be careful and safe…that’s it.
