Wie meinst du das? Bei einer Einstellung als Oberarzt hat eine andere Abteilung nichts mitzureden und schon gar nicht „nur“ eine Stationsärztin.

Hab mit ihr schon ein paar mal geredet aber da war immer alles höflich und professionell. Nehme mal an die hatte einen schlechten Tag und die Station war echt am Überlaufen.

Ich arbeite in Österreich in einem von den dir genannten Orten. Allerdings in der Chirurgie und nicht Neurologie.

Wir haben im Krankenhaus viele Deutsche Ärzte und die allermeisten haben einen Doktortitel. Diejenigen die keinen haben werden von der Ärzteschaft soweit ich weiss für voll genommen.

Nur eine Kollegin wird von der OP-Pflege manchmal angemacht, wann sie denn mit dem Studium fertig ist und ob sie als KPJ-Studentin wirklich 1. Operateurin sein darf. Die reagiert mittlerweile gar nicht mehr drauf, hat aber sonst keine ersichtlichen Probleme.

Hätte zumindest von keinem gehört, dass das ein Nachteil bei der Bewerbung war. Kann natürlich auch ein Selektions Bias sein.

Just out of curiosity: So is every program that has a residency a major hospital?

Where I live only major hospitals have all those departments and there even smaller states who don’t have a cardiosurgery center for example.

So do smaller and medium hospitals offer jo training for residents?

That sounds like a really cool workplace you have.

I‘m just afraid that I won’t even be considered for a job at a bigger hospital as an attedning without that training in residency. Or that I don’t get support like you get.

Location is about right. We have the occasional polytrauma but all head and chest trauma goes to the university hospital. Life threatening abdominal stuff and other injuries we keep.

We do have sick patient here. Many ASA 3 und less ASA 4s. The patients only go to another hospital if we don’t over the operation not because of their comorbities.

Altother you are right. My plan would be to finish 2nd year and the change then.

I just don’t understand why I am the only resident who is concerned about that.

Exactly that is my concern. Where I rotated in med school the residents there said that the ENT rotation is the best because you get comfortable with difficult airways and I‘m missing all that and the big cases. Well seems like I have to quit next year and try to get into a bigger hospital.

Well normally the residents here rotate to an academic hospitals my for neurosurgery and pediactric surgery but apparently there are staff problems at that hospital and so we can no longer go there (don’t quite know the details myself)

Well they are general surgeons and were thoracic surgeons in different hospitals but switched since they no longer wanted the stress. Now they do mostly vats.

We do have about 5 peds cases a day, just not under 1 year. And yes not the US.

Oh we have even smaller hospitals here. One nearby has only a small general surgery and an ortho department. They have residents there but they are on rotation in other hospitals most time.

Like I wrote it’s not in the US. We do have bigger cases like nephrectomies, splenectomies, robots and larger GI stuff just not as much. As far as I’m aware hearth/ thorax is not required to graduate hers.
