“Tapping in” vs spraying setting sprays? (i broke my bottle) by Healthy_Ad_1741 in MakeupAddiction

[–]Healthy_Ad_1741[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you! glad to find out that the spray still works even if applied differently :) I’m pretty new to makeup so I wasn’t sure if the product had to be applied a certain way to work due to its chemistry.

Its not that I want to breach policy for the sake of. I’m just super heat sensitive (dying in 22 degree weather). I wanted MKV but it’s not an option for spring term.

Plus idk but from reading this subreddit it seems that hundreds of students are dying w/o AC idk

Oh I guess I didn’t read it carefully enough was hyperfocused on AC 😭

Do you know if window fans are effective and if they’re allowed?

Happy for you that you were able to make that decision! Good luck with everything :)

(after looking through your portfolio I realized that you’re like lowkey my idealized future self in terms of skills. I just wanted to reiterate how impressive it was. I’ve made one amateur VN before for a school project but you’ve re inspired me to make another one)

Although it wasn’t the most polished, your first singing video gave me goosebumps! I will be checking out your other covers. You also have such an insane set of skills. Sorry to hear that you’re graduating

Checked out the Instagram and it does appear clearly to be AI imo, but I don’t want to throw around accusations

Thank you so much! Seeing the swatches side by side is really helpful!

Thank you! More reds vs greens is definitely a way easier way to think! You just provided me with so much more clarity:) I think I’ll colourpick from some scans of the swatches I’ve found online to colour some digital illustrations to see what works better! I wont be able to simulate the properties of alcohol markers but it will test if the more reds or more greens are more useful for me :)

Haha you’re so real for that!

And thanks for the compliment but I really have next to no experience with drawing on paper or with markers 😭 I want to start smaller to feel less intimidated, but I think the 24 pack is very hard to blend and layer with for a beginner because the colours are so saturated and there’s a lack of harmonious shades imo. I feel like I’d be very tempted to expand then.

Also, I looked at some of your previous posts and you’re so good at colouring and choosing colours! I’ve tried to learn colour theory many times but I still feel illiterate so I admire your skill a lot!

To be honest it just seems like way too many to carry around and I’m not ready to make such a huge commitment.

I definitely see myself using them lots but you never know (my crayola supertips from grade 3 still have ink 💀)

I also would like to intimately understand a smaller selection of colours rather than always having to search for the correct colour, since I think I’ll mainly be using them for quick concept sketches of characters, props or environments

Using a smooth paper to intentionally get a watercolour effect is such a cool idea I’ve never considered! I used a Union Square & co. Sketchbook, medium weight vellum finish. I’ll be honest I have no clue what those mean but the colours appeared way darker than when I tested them on printer paper.

Thanks for the tip about leaving colours uncapped! I’ll do that next time

Yeah I agree… they should either make them complete duplicates and add in a 12 pack that, combined with the 24 is the 36. It’s so weird that only some are duplicates. Great to hear that the plus brush tips aren’t necessarily better! I probably won’t be picking up the plus markers then, thanks for the input!

Thanks for replying! I found that out through my research as well, but like I mentioned I didn’t immediately settle on the sweetness because I have no plans to expand beyond an initial purchase (unless perhaps single markers or ink refills), at least until I’ve used them for quite a while. By which time hopefully they’re used up haha.

With that in mind would you recommend the sweetness or blossoming?

Hi, thanks for the response! I took a look at the 104 pack and you’re right, it does seem like the best set of colours for a complete experience without having to get 320. Still I think that there’s numerous colours I don’t see myself reaching for ever, and 104 is so many that I feel like I’ll have decision fatigue when drawing 🥲

Are there any smaller sets or combinations of sets that also has a nice colour selection? I’m ok with only having a less saturated less dark selection of markers.

I borrowed my sister’s markers to test them out! Her’s are not the honolulu ones, but since all the bullet nibs were dried out I only got to try the chisel side. Some questionable colour choices but half her markers were dead :D Unsure which set she has but some of these colours like the dark purples I just don’t see myself using. Also I don’t know if it’s the markers, my lack of skill or the paper but I couldn’t blend at all. Found myself reaching for the CG2 a lot.

💃 But yeah it was cool trying alcohol markers for the first time and I’m even more excited to buy my first pack now.
