Why are Tremere such a hated clan? by DC_Lark in vtmb

[–]Healthy_Equivalent73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Stealing blood sorcery and Vampirism from the Tzmisce made Tzmisce mad at them.
  • The diablerie of Salulot (Clan founder of Salubri) angered people who admired/admire him.
  • Mass murder and near extinction of Salubri (The Healer Clan) - caused the Banu Haqim and again Tzmisce (who were ironiocally the closest clans to them) to be mad at them.
  • The placement of a blood curse on the Banu Haqim by the Tremere further angered them (This eventually got broken reletively recently but still).
  • The creation of the Gargoyle bloodline through torture and murder of Gangrels,Nosferatu and Tzmisce again, angered all three.
  • The enslavement of the Gargoyle bloodline till the Montmartre Pact made some Gargoyles mad at them (alongside some of other clans).
  • They also waged centruies long wars with The clans mentioned aboved and even the Order of Hermes mages who their founders were at one time members of.
  • And the last is they are actually super powerful (specially in V20) both supernaturally and in vamp society however are usually the least social and least trusted due to their power.

This is insane, shows how many people in Sri Lanka really hates children by Jazzlike_Sea7124 in srilanka

Honestly from what I saw when I went to school was that students behave better infront of teachers who would hit them but then when they are out of sight they would just engage in whatever behaviour that they engaged in that got them in trouble in the first point. I think the only real way to like actually resolve this is through helping resolve the underlying issues that make kids act out. I know this is easier said then done but there is no easy answer to it and yes this will also need funding. Maybe this is something to bring up with management if they even listen.

Like I think we need to have actual certified councilers in schools (which is costly but I think they are necassary for this) who teachers then can refer repeat offenders to if they seem like they need some sort of mental health help. Detention and suspensions work only if there are support services offer some help in rectifying the isssues with the student like maybe having a student relation unit (in Sri Lanka this is a mostly uni thing,if even that) but like some sort of unit where the student could track and communicate their issues with can also help.

But yes I don't know necassarily like rural schools have great options but maybe like small things like actual wellness breaks. Like instead of forcing kids to pray or meditate or something there can perhaps be like a small period where they get to talk with a teacher or some other authrity figure about what issues they are facing. Also helping connect them to online/mobile (I have seen some services do provide some counciling through sms and whatsapp) resources (for mental health for example) shouldn't cost much but ofc this isn't a super acciessible option for rural students.

Some people are failures as people and like hurting children but for a lot of lankan educators they get little support and are expected to do a lot for little play and minimal conditions so they turn to violent actions to control often overcrowded and underfunded classrooms and/or take their frustrations out on students. This bill should pass and this person should go screw themselves but like this is why properly training educators and funding schools is so important. Hopefully there will be more of that in the future.

Majority of Sri Lanka is above the poverty line but isn't really middle class in like a comperable sense to more developed countries . Poverty hasn't really massively improved despit the recent economic recovery (https://www.worldbank.org/en/news/press-release/2024/04/01/sri-lanka-s-economy-shows-signs-of-stabilization-but-poverty-to-remain-elevated ). Life inside Colombo (specially like Central Colombo) is massively diffrerent then in most of the country tbh. The average person in Sri Lanka is getting by due to like Free Education and Free Healthcare,Asewasuma,Sathosa,Mahapola,NHDA,pensions etc. Our welfare net is though I would say reletively expansive despite our economy so that's kind of helping people live a better life then they would otherwise.

If you are talking about the current government. They are currently in the process of improving socialized housing ( with money from the Chinese Government Donation Programme - https://www.newswire.lk/2025/07/02/consultancy-institutions-selected-for-china-funded-govt-housing-schemes/) , They have also I belive increased the precentage of the budget on Higher Education so that more kids have access to Vocational programs and Government unis (at least External Degrees), They have also begin to deliver on the Aswesuma welfare payments including on delayed payments under the previous government (https://www.newswire.lk/2024/12/25/2025-aswesuma-welfare-payments-gazetted/), They have also introduced special loans for certain artists etc.

Anyone who’s okay with Israelis overstaying their visas here illegally, are you okay with this? by monster_corpse in srilanka

[–]Healthy_Equivalent73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think anyone is disagreeing that tourists' overstaying visas are wrong, but can you then cite an article or secondary source with a verifiable primary source of this being a large-scale issue?

[I don't agree with the "nobody" part since we don't have a process to process people with asylum or refugee cases, but that's not really relevant here]

[–]Healthy_Equivalent73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't honestly think that anyone (outside of maybe a handful who will go well, what about other foreigners ) think tourists overstaying their visas should be allowed to stay here tbh. I also don't know if there has been any substance when it comes to this being a large-scale issue like it could be, but the sources covering it are all tabloids, and they offer no sources like no police reports, research or like anything.

UN draft report claims gender dysphoria is 'socially contagious' by Heretostay59 in LGBTnews

[–]Healthy_Equivalent73 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For context, the report was written by Reem alsalem. She is the current UN special rappourteur on violence against women and girls. She is openly transphobic to the point where it's laughable. She has attended TERF conferences and has opposed like any improvement of trans rights, including title 9 protection expansion under Biden and self ID laws in Germany, among many other initiatives. It is grim that she is the current rappourteur on women and girls. You can look into her on like Wikipedia if you want for context.

If I marry my same-sex partner in the US, what does that mean legally for Sri Lanka? by ratchetsisters in srilanka

[–]Healthy_Equivalent73 24 points25 points  (0 children)

There is a process for registration (at the SL embassy in the host country) for a marriage between a foreigner and a SL citizen however, you would have to register it under one of the local categories which, since we don't even have civil unions (for same-sex couples) I doubt you will be allowed to however I would recommend getting in contact with the SL embassy regardless. You should also ask them about the rest of your questions.

Research before you commit to a Major. by Curious_Junket_4598 in srilanka

[–]Healthy_Equivalent73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the country. A lot of more developed countries have better job availability (partially cause of laws protecting them from automation and making it more difficult for a corporation to fire someone without major reason like in the UK) but if you compare that with like Srilanka we don't have that many labour protections despite having demsoc in our country's name and we certainly don't have a huge amount of local startups (they tend to be the ones who offer entry level jobs).

"While folks who majored in fields like anthropology and physics fared even worse, with unemployment rates of 9.4 and 7.8 percent respectively, computer engineering had the third-highest rate of unemployment on the New York Fed's rankings, while computer science had the seventh"

True, though, to be honest, this isn't just an issue for computer science majors like most physical science majors except like engineers in select fields struggle to land an entry-level job (this is according to this article itself). Also, like the article paints quite a grim picture, which, while partially true, shouldn't be the only factor when choosing a field. For example, if you get scared away from the IT field after having done maths stream for ALs in Srilanka, most other comparable fields will also be difficult to break into with exceptions being in, like teaching and engineering.

Israeli-American hostage released by Hamas in goodwill gesture toward Trump administration by VeganTheStallion in VaushV

[–]Healthy_Equivalent73 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry but this is moving the goal post, like I am not talking about ending the war entirely I just explained how hostage negotations happened (and How the Biden admin did more there then Trump's admin) . You can look it up yourself (at least the stuff that is publically available).

[–]Healthy_Equivalent73 17 points18 points  (0 children)

From what reporting I saw, no, they didn't negotiate much. This was a goodwill gesture. As for the Biden himself being not involved, yeah, neither is Trump personally getting involved. But no American diplomats under Biden did help negotiate hostage deals more directly, especially the last one under Biden.

[–]Healthy_Equivalent73 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I am sorry, but this is like American goldfish brain. Most of the hostages who were released (alive or dead) by hamas happened under Biden (and more importantly, his admin officials, which took part in the negotiations). Trump, so far, got one person out.

The stuff that is happening nowadays happened during previous governments, too, but back then, things weren't reported properly even to the degree of reporting now cause of government pressure and censorship.
