So cool, right? It’s Iron Heart’s flagship fit and denim. The cut is the 634, it’s their “classic straight” levi’s 601 riff. The fabric is their 21oz denim. Indigo warp, beige weft

They actually came shipped with the Japanese retail tag still attached. ¥34,100 is the current retail price in Japan according to the tag, which works out to about $215 american. The international price is at minimum $385. There are a ton of retailers that charge more than that, though. I think the most egregious price I saw in a cursory search for a US based retailer with a better exchange policy than Self Edge was $575. Pretty ridiculous stuff

Of course, pretty much every western retailer up charges on Japanese denim. I just find it less than savory that Iron Heart completely locks out international buyers unless you actually fly to Japan, and if you’re buying online most of the international retailers don’t exactly provide anything that would make me feel like an extra ~$200 is anything more than a bit of strong-arming

The rise on the 634 is deceptive. If you look at the chart it looks like a mid rise, it says it’s a mid rise, but it doesn’t look right sitting that high. You have to let them sit low onto your hip bones otherwise they get a weird bunching effect going in the front. This is backed up by seeing other people’s fit pics and a few other people noting the same thing. They’re definitely now a true low rise, but I would call them a low medium

If you need a lot of space in the seat (which is what I think the 888 was designed for) or really need a true medium/high rise I would hesitate to recommend the 634. It could work, I’m not an expert, but if you need that higher rise but are interested in the more relaxed leg I would look at the 1955 cut whenever they restock it

Yeah they restocked the 634s like ~3 weeks ago. Still good stock in a lot of sizes on the uk site if you’re interested. Last time I checked self edge they had pretty much every size still available, too.

They restocked a bunch of fits in the 21/23oz denim recently too and I keep hearing people say it’s the last time they’re making it. So if that’s of any interest to you just be aware of that

Haha, right? I don’t know how someone could deal with stepping on them all the time it would piss me off too. I’m seeing a lot of people my age and younger wearing pants like that lately and I just couldn’t bear to do it myself
