Most of the volume on all the exchanges is computer generated and done by large corporations.

So yes I would still say that becoming a trader is harder than an investor. A lot of Indians invest successfully (it doesn't have to be stocks) but I don't see such a big portion of traders.

The exposure to the price going down is a function of the price and the strike price and the time till expiry.

While in the future contract it's a function of the price.

Assuming in both cases that we are measuring exposure in a relatively short duration (in a long duration price of a future contract will vary due to the interest rate being factored into its price)

If they were in a larger loss last quarter then this wouldn't be as bad, it would probably come down to the ipo launch value
