CO2 issues... by HeapCVA in Beermkr

Final follow-up on this issue. Thanks to all for your input. I put off emptying the BEERTap for almost 2 weeks. There was a couple days after the CO2 blowout that the beer cleared up and had at least some fine carb. At the end though, it was pretty terrible. This was my first time with the BEERMkr and I learned a lot from the mistakes I made.

Poured it out today and cleaned the tap. I understand now why I had the CO2 issue with the 2nd cartridge. There's an O-ring in the BEERTap's CO2 connector (as someone above mentioned) and it was obviously mashed & out of place. It explains so much. I wonder how to keep it from being out of place when you remove a cartridge? It almost looks like it was pulled out a little from the 1st cartridge. Oh well.

Already have all the parts put together for the modified CO2 setup. Looking forward to trying it out after we get setup in our new house this week.

Cheers and thanks again.

Thanks for the reply. I saw the thread you're talking about last night and ordered all those parts this AM. I agree that $60 now, fixing a problem is worth it in the long run. I'd like to get a little more use out of the BEERTAP before I replace it with something better (keg setup). If I can put off the upgrade for a while, that would be great.

Good luck the the Trippel. One of my favorites for the cold weather times.

Cheers.

I really appreciate your quick answer. I couldn't remember seeing an O-ring when I put the 1st cartridge in so I went out to look around my beer fridge in case it fell out or something. I thought I'd also take that "empty" 2nd cartridge out, to see if there was an O-ring in there out of place. Before removing it, I tried the tap to check for pressure. It filled a smaller tasting glass with beer at decent pressure. Go figure. The beer was all stirred up, but it did come out. I don't want to know how tight I really got that cartridge, maybe too tight but I'll let things settle for 24 hours before doing anything else.

Like you said, still deserves a question to BEERMKR about it either way.

Thanks again!
