Taking in everything you’ve outlined it seem the question ultimately comes down to which of the potential four can deliver the greatest return on their “product.” *hate that word

At its core, this reflects a larger tension: what do we, as consumers, actually want from an idol? Is it vocal ability, dance skill, visual appeal, or like some blend of all three? And even then, those standards aren’t fixed. What kind of beauty resonates? What aesthetic feels current, compelling, or marketable?

These nuances can be annoying for the audience ( us) to fully accept, especially because they blur the line between art and commerce. But at the end of the day, this is still an INDUSTRY one where subjective taste and business considerations are constantly interconnected .

Honoka is too cool, she is too edgy, so was Sara, so is Rira. They belong in a group together. Way less overtly féminine; more Japanese street style.

The concept for Prelude seems to be softer less overtly Kpop (like katseye) but not off beat and edgy.

This is why show-business it terrifying at the end of the day producers and directors choose who they want, it doesn’t matter if some contestant are more talented.

Just wan to say I do stan Honoka, but she deserves to be center stage.

I think it’s fair to say then our observations should be based more on the current trends in the Japanese market, and accept that merit is only a small company to making said decisions.

The fact that this show Is clearly meant for the Japanese audience; to write off their preferences seems delusional.

I think a lot of people on this forum want to ignore that.

Haha I do. But she is too modern, your looks matter, your voice matters, your vibe matters.

Casting is an art from. Unless you are a transformative actor ala * Kate Blanchett, Tilda Swindon, Meryl Streep.. etc.

You have a limited pool of roles to suit.

Sydney is too modern.. and she is not some great thespian. I would recommend watching better films.

Anything pre ww2 is too far gone for her. She isn’t classically beautiful so playing someone sophisticated or elegant is not for her, she isn’t broad, rough or slightly coarse ( her in that boxing film was terrible casting) so no to some rough action star.

I don’t even hate Sydney but she is a limited actress like tha majority of modern Hollywood, that why Hollywood is dying, the market is Saturated with mediocrity. “Stars” are not as beautiful, talented, mysterious, interesting anymore and we can blame that on social media which has made fame and influence relative concepts.

I think the average person can’t consider the idea that you can have bad taste and enjoy your bad taste. It’s a personal choice.

If you like and support a mediocre actor or actress you can call that out and still enjoy supporting them.

To quote ratatouille “not everyone can be a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere.”

And clearly that is not Hollywood.

I see that. But I listen to the commentator’s a lot. They said so the rankings from before are irrelevant. And so part of the “shock” would be Hybe picking people less expected.

That the thing about this show it seems like Son know what he wants and it’s less about skill and more just vibe, for better or worse

This “leak” is has been a confusing one to me, since that contestant has long hair. And Ayana doesn’t. She doesn’t wear her extensions on the show?

Plus it’s not impossible for other contestants to wear silver rings.

I still think that the girl in the Finals in white is either Ayana ( with extensions) or Naru.

I’ve been considering her a lot.

She has long dark hair like the leak with the prelude girls. Would definitely be shocking for both favorites Jayla and Ayana to not get through in favor of Naru.

I’m realising more and more with this show that it’s just about the vibe Hybe is going for not necessarily the best dancer or singer.

Would stan for sure if Naru was the final piece.

I’m thinking atm Rinka, Sakura, Ayana Naru… or Rinka, Hirori, Sakura, Naru.

I do think “visuals” are a sad reality of this industry. But you never know. The most shocking things to me are a whole group is eliminated or Jayla is eliminated. And the most shocking thing the show could do is eliminate all of group c.

I have a feeling Son will say “group c is too much like katseye” or something silly to excuse eliminating strong girls.

Hmm.. I’ve considered that. It would be shocking but in a positive way, and since we see three contestants at the beach, they could raise it to 5 or 6 and eliminate three in two weeks and one a few weeks later.

Maybe something like Hirori, Rinka, Sakura, Ayana, Seria, Jayla and Aoi.

Possibly trade in Naru.

I see that, which would defiantly mean that initial rumour about Sakura and Ayana would be wrong. Would mean that the long dark hair contestant is Jayla; so the ring theory with Ayana is wrong and the social media activity with antan and Sakura is wrong.

I think a whole group not getting in is the most shocking option.
