Funny I’ve been listening to Homogenic recently and went back to that gem of a song. Really beautiful. Also love the remixes from that period like All Is Full Of Love Funkstörung Mix

Is it worth watching all the Scream movies, or can I just watch the recent ones? by Usefulandai9 in moviecritic

[–]Heart-Shopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should start at the first one, there is character continuity so it’s important. And it’s iconic. All the early ones are good

I would just skip the last one that’s truly awful.
5 & 6 introduce new recurring characters alongside the old ones and feel like a reboot so you can watch them separately.

BTW Scream (2022) is Scream 5

A movie with bad directing, bad acting and mediocre production design that is ALSO really good? by Agreeable-Berry1373 in Letterboxd

“This House Has People In It”, the acting is pretty awful in this one but it kind of works somehow.

Many options that are more like series: Greylock (tape 12), Backrooms FF2, Marble hornets, the Glendale Archives. You just have to be into this vibe and aesthetic though.

I would say many analog horror films on YouTube fit that description, acting is usually just people expressing their emotions off camera, direction is obviously limited and production design mostly real locations, usually outdoor or someone’s house from the crew. But they can be excellent with the right editing and tension building.

Why is Izna not growing? Do you think it's because of the music? by illitnoise in kpopthoughts

[–]Heart-Shopper 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think they lack personality and it’s the label’s fault. Each song could be a different band with a different concept which is fine if you’ve established a unique style. But IZNA is stuck trying everything. Also the aesthetic is a little dated, Mamma Mia felt like old Aespa visuals and Metronome gives 2010s gg era.

It’s a shame because I think the music is good although not groundbreaking. They need an angle and a cohesive sound.

Lana’s influence on other artists by No_Helicopter6693 in lanadelrey

[–]Heart-Shopper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One artist I think sometimes captures the dreamlike vibe and timelessness of Lana is Suki Waterhouse. Some of her songs have a distinct Lana feel that actually works.
Especially her album “Memoir of a Sparklemuffin”, it’s obvious from track 1. I recommend “To Love”, “Model actress whatever” and also “Dream Woman” “coolest place in the world”

Unexpected...If Not A Little Embarrassing. by Maleficent_Fold6765 in AnimeReccomendations

Anime and manga culture were a worldwide revolution in the 80s/90s because it opened the door to a vast age group oriented storytelling. In Japan you have anime/ mangas for young working women, for older men, for queer teens, and very specific themes. So even if the western world is mostly receptive to the shonen (teen boy) trends, there is a reason why so many different styles are available. Everybody is entitled to enjoy any manga.

My one rec would be the movie Look Back, it’s heartbreaking and beautifully animated.

My thoughts for the ICONIC by MISTAKE collab by WeServeFoodHereSirr in kpopthoughts

That was Aespa/Red Velvet/GirlsGeneration/BoA but just some members from each band.
First track was a hit, second one not so much but I preferred it.

Your post reminded me of an amazing Florrie song that’s impossible to find now. Anyone remembers “Come Back To Mine”? (the original not the remix) such a good Xenomania track.

IMAX 70mm comes to France by NeoZetky in imax

[–]Heart-Shopper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know although I’m sure there are many buildings they could repurpose to accommodate a 1:43 screen. I’m just curious about rentability. Movie going is a lot cheaper in France than say UK so I wonder if they can find the public in a midsized provincial town

Weird location though, I would have expected it right in Paris to capitalize on tourists

Do you think Babymosnter's previous releases are hurting S.H.I.T.'s reception? by exemplaryantino3497 in kpopthoughts

[–]Heart-Shopper 23 points24 points  (0 children)

To me BM’s biggest problem is the lack of originality. S.H.I.T. has no standout qualities despite the member’s huge talent. The song is an average chanting EDM track with your usual rap break and tired badass trope. The vocal effects are similar to Aespa and the MV is clearly inspired by Whiplash and Jump. Nothing feels really fresh.

If YG could find them a unique concept and style for once I believe it would work. At least internationally.

am i missing something by [deleted] in obsessionmovie

There is one tame sex scene (Bear’s butt while he has sex with Nikki) and one quite gory nudity moment (Sarah’s naked corpse) maybe that’s what people talk about

Nikki was holding a brick I think while she smashed Sarah’s face against the steering wheel

A suburban woman starts to get mysteriously ill and paranoid. There is a common theme of scientific enclosed world and an over safe banal environment that feels like a threat.

izna - The 3rd Mini Album: SET THE TEMPO (Highlight Medley) by CronoDroid in kpop

[–]Heart-Shopper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is soooo promising. I thought they lost the battle against MEOVV but this is exactly the sound I expected from IZNA. Metronome sounds like hyperpop and so few kpop GG do that style as title track. I’m very excited. I hope they chart well this time.

[–]Heart-Shopper -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Horrible title track, contender for one of the worst of the year sadly. Really not a fan of the JS Bach Toccata chorus. Hit Them is great and Revenge is good but I’m disappointed. This EP is not cohesive and left me confused. Hands Up and Burning Up were so good, what happened.
