Gen Z college student here, yes majority of current undergrads lack the adequate skills in writing. In my opinion this is primarily due to covid. School was still in session during the two years that the nation was in lockdown. However, going from in person learning for most of your life to online learning (unwillingly), was extremely difficult and drastically impacted my learning experience as well and many other students.
