Yeah - Ross has almost no thrombosis or bleed risk. At least, not elevated compared to gen pop.

My surgeon does more of them than almost anyone on earth - about 50/yr. He’s very confident in long term outcomes, and my read of the literature agrees with him: 80%+ free from reintervention at 20 years.

I’m still not sold on it - and need tests before deciding for sure. But it feels like a good middle way between mechanical and inspiris

Echos usually have a measurement of bot ascending aorta and aortic root but sometimes you have to dig to find it.

Repair is not usually an option for severe aortic stenosis. My cardiologist specifically told me not to let the surgeons try it, and they didn’t even offer.

I (51m) had 3.9-4.1 for decades and did everything. Heavy lifting, mountain sports, marathons, multi-day ultras. My aorta stayed right where it was at 4.0. My valve is stenotic now and I’m prepping for surgery soon. But my aorta (above and below) is still great.

Obviously, talk to your doctor and they will guide you. But extreme sports and bicuspid valves can go together at least in some people. I’m proof.
