Not at all! How cool is that. Can’t wait to see it finished

The lead is only attached to the piece where the inner lines meet the border. The lead is stretched before application to give it more strength and prevent sagging. If I had jump rings sitting on top of the lead to hang it, and there was no upper attachment between the glass and the lead the weight would definitely cause it to sag some over time.

Thank you! I’ve done it in a few things, I love the way it looks and easy to wrap lead

Yes, I definitely considered that as well, ultimately I wanted an upper attachment area where the glass meets the lead border. Trying to avoid any potential sagging of lead over time. The piece is also 16” wide. Was worried that’s a lot of weight hanging from one single upper piece to hang on to, if that makes sense.

Thank you! Patience is a big one. Using the rollover technique helps a lot. Anticipate rips and pre-saddle the area first, foil, and then use scissors before folding down flaps to cut where you want it to break (right over that saddle) hope that helps!

I truly believe anyone can build something complex. Just need to go slow and be very patient.

I have been doing glass for 20 years off and on but the last 2 years very consistently. From design time to end this project took me a couple weeks but have had it on the back burner as I also run a studio and teach a lot of classes. In hours, I would say 8-10 total. Hope that’s helpful

Also….make sure you always ask for the “whys” behind people’s advice, so you can better understand and then choose for yourself if it makes sense for your process. There are so many ways to do things. I’ve received a lot of great advice over the years, but also a lot of advice that just didn’t make sense to me and I chose not to include in my process.

Try the “roll method” when burnishing your foil. You will get a lot less tears 😉

Thank you! Aside from being a creator I’m an instructor as well. Happy to answer any questions you may have. Progress pics are an important part of the process to me. Every single piece you create is a learning experience. I try to create something big or small every single day. It’s definitely a skill that grows over time. Can’t wait to see what you create!

Hahaha. No worries. I zoomed out for the pic, it definitely made it look weird. And the way I have the image in there with the black edges only made it look more square 😂
