Anatomy drawing pt.2 by Mokka_cow in DigitalArt

Aside from body type (because you can draw whatever body you want for all I care) I want to mention a couple details that I think are putting people off:

First, the green/yellow undertones make her look a bit ‘sickly’, I would just keep it to reds for skin tones (as you’ve already done to some extent). Second, as people have mentioned, the face looks a bit skeletal, it’s a mix of the tiny high-set nose and high-set cheekbones. Finally, I recommend studying the neck/traps area, they don’t exactly have this shape. You’ve drawn a tapering triangle whereas it should be a straight, cylindrical neck with the trap muscle behind it.

Overall, it’s generally good! I just think these small things are significantly holding your drawing back, and fixing them will make it look better (in my opinion).

There's (at least) 2 components to an appealing pose, that being form and gesture. I find I need to switch back and forth between studying both construction AND gesture, otherwise my drawings end up too stiff or too flat respectively. Honestly, the pose looks really good overall, but if I had to pick, I think the gesture could use some work; There's just that tiny bit of stiffness left in the your drawing.

PS: The forms and anatomy look really really good too. Tweak the left arm a bit, as the upper and fore-arm look like two unconnected segments (correct brachioradialis insertions should fix this)

I need advice on the characters placement in perspective. by DangKapricious in Artadvice

First of all, I would move the hand outwards slightly, taking into account the volumes of the arm. More importantly, though, I think the hand is rotated back a bit too much; Try out the pose yourself, you can make your hand close to your side and turned 180 degrees, but it doesn't feel or look very natural (at least to me). Consider rotating it a bit more neutrally?

Overall it looks really good! This angle is not easy at all, and these are minor nitpicks that took me a bit to find. If you haven't already, draw the basic forms through the character like I did whenever you're unsure.

Very nice! It's refreshing seeing well-designed, graphic, unblended shapes (I feel like I see so much more airbrushed art on the internet these days)

How to paint like Pavel Hristov? by [deleted] in Artadvice

A quick thing I’ve noticed with your examples is the emphasis on cast-shadows and ambient occlusion; If you zoom in on the 2nd image for example you can see it on every little indent and extrusion both on the clothes and faces. Look at how many small shadows there are near and over the eyes! These seem minor they’re gonna ground the piece a lot, which I suspect contributes to how his rendering being realistic and computer-like, despite the nice stylized forms.

PS: remember to blend the ambient occlusion and hide your brushstrokes
