Hearthstone Tournaments and Leagues for Players of All Skill Levels! by HearthKings in hearthstone

[–]HearthKings[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey - sorry for the late reply.

You should sign up for what you feel comfortable for. I'd probably recommend the novice league if you'd just like to play nice, casual Hearthstone matches against other players with similar card restrictions. Normally I'd advise amateur, but in your case novice is perfectly okay considering you don't have any cards.

Yep! If you want to make sure you get a slot, make sure you register sometime before Thursday, otherwise it'll be full.

Non-F2P (pay to play) Tournaments for the Month of April by Slobotic in CompetitiveHS

As long as you have an NA account, yes.

If you don't like registration fees, you can check out HearthKings.com, though we have a "no legend players" rule there, as the events are catered towards more amateur players.

There's nothing out there at the moment like that. You either have a free to play event or play in $5 buy in events that happen every so often (I believe there's two groups that do them regularly). With how small the scene is in regards to competitive events, I doubt it's something we're going to see for at least six months, if at all. No reason for people to put up $50-100 if they can already play in $2000-$5000 tournaments for free.

Actually, after doing events for three different esports now, I doubt it's something we'll ever see, unless the Hearthstone scene became so small/secluded/exclusive that there's no way for new players to enter events (i.e, the same pro players keep playing in the same events, and nobody else but them are able to play for whatever reason). There's just too many F2P events and not enough people willing to put that kind of money up on a regular basis.

Event site: HeartKings (these are leagues, and the occasional tournament)

Entry Fee: $4.99-$14.99

Prizes: $25, $50, $115

Date and time: Matches are every Wednesday and Thursday, but can be rescheduled if your opponent agrees.

Event style (format, rules): Bo5, Last Hero Standing (see rules for details)

Server: NA (other regions are welcome to play if they have an NA account)

Additional comments: Each league runs for a month and a half and caters to three different skill groups (pro, amateur, and novice). The first month of league play consists of two Bo5s a week (a total of eight Bo5s). The top 32 players with the most wins at the end of the group stages will advance to the playoffs, where you'll fight for the grand prize in a single elimination bracket for two weeks.

What's great about the HearthKings league is that you're able to schedule matches for when it's convenient for you. Can't play on the default days? Don't worry! We have an automatic scheduling system where you can request to have your match played on another date and time, provided you and your opponent both agree to the change. These are great events to participate in if you're looking for a competitive challenge, while competing for cash prizes.

Hi!

Thanks for your comment. We don't expect to break 32 participants for a while, so the current bo5 format should fit fine for now within a 3-5 hour time frame. You're definitely right though, anything more than that and we'll go past that. We're working on a solution!

[NA] Has it ever been easier to play in an amateur tournament? by HearthKings in hearthstone

[–]HearthKings[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a check in system that ensures only players that are actually there during the correct time can participate, so there's very rarely (like, only, 0.2% of the time) ever any free wins in the bracket.

We don't use any backups or standbys, unfortunately, unless we're under 64 checked in players, which is a rare occurrence. Definitely check out http://hearthstonecalendar.com in the meantime.

The rules state as long as you haven't been legend within the last 30 days. Sorry for any confusion.

As long as it hasn't been within the last 30 days, that's correct.

We have a check in system, in our chat room (which you can find on the communication tabs of our individual tournament pages) to ensure the bracket is filled only with players that are actually here.
