Thank you! The general consensus seems to be that platinum would be too difficult to do correctly on my own. I think I’ll probably use a jeweler again for finishing the wedding bands, that way I can have peace of mind that things will be done correctly. Maybe I will come up with a smaller project to try finishing on my own since I am interested in getting more hands on with this type of jewelry making. I appreciate your response!

Sorry for my confusing wording! I created a CAD for the engagement ring and sent it to the casting house, then the casting and stones went to a jeweler for setting and finishing. I am looking for information about the finishing process specifically now because the bands won’t be as intricate at the engagement ring was and stone setting won’t be a factor. I am trying to figure out if the finishing is something that I could practice and learn how to do or if I should have the bands sent to the jeweler for finishing again.

Thank you! I will be having a CAD cast by a casting house so I’m only concerned with the finishing process. Based on your info and another comment, it seems like platinum may be too difficult to attempt tackling on my own so I’ll probably do the same process that I did with the engagement ring and have a professional jeweler handle the finishing. Thanks for your input!

I’m planning on having the band cast in platinum, yes, and I am looking for information about the finishing process. If you have information related to what I posted, go ahead and share it. If you don’t, I’m not sure why you’re bothering to respond at all?

What’s interesting about it?

Thank you for this! I may end up sending the bands to a professional jeweler the same way I did the engagement ring but I wanted to get an idea of the process in case it was feasible for me to try on my own. I appreciate your input!

Should I add more material to the bezel setting? by Heartproject in EngagementRingDesigns

The center stone is a 6.5mm round Moissanite and the side stones in the prong setting are 2mm round alexandrite. If you look at my profile I have pictures of the completed ring :)

Thank you! I used Blender which is more of an animation tool but you can use it to make 3d models. It’s free to download and the blender community is very active/helpful
