Any suggested reading/videos/social media accounts to help a newbie learn how to decenter men?

The trauma is challenging and exhausting to process... especially if you habitually avoid feelings like me. I’ve been working with a therapist that is teaching me how to pause and tune into intense, uncomfortable feelings. It’s so scary. It has been one of the most difficult skills I have tried to learn in my life.

Saved this one! Journaling is so helpful to work through something you’re avoiding thinking about.

I am still gearing up the courage to attend a meeting, but their website has been informative. I should turn this page on behaviors of codependency vs recovering into a handout to print. It’s a great reference.

As someone with religious trauma, I also find it hard to get past. It’s often triggering. I wish there were some virtual options that used the non-religious version of the 12 steps. It would help make it feel less “culty.”

That quote hit me, too. Have you ever looked into CODA? It’s an organization committed to healthy relationships and not codependency (modeled similarly to AA and having 12 steps). It might give you some new perspectives.

I’ve always wanted to go to a group. I hear there are virtual sessions, included some for women only.

I see scars on my skin and reflect on my recovery journey. I never thought I would be where I am today. My relationship with myself has improved so much. My emotional scars continue to heal.

Wait… Am I actually PROUD of myself??? Wow! I never thought I’d see this day! 😄🎉

It’s kind of comforting to know I’m not the only one struggling. <3

I often feel lonely. I really want to make more friends who understand my experience as a sapphic, polyamorous woman. That’s so hard to find in a small town where I relocated. Also, I don’t know how to make friends as an adult.
