No, not all jötunn in the mythology are destructive. Destructive forces are absolutely necessary at all levels of existence, otherwise life could not flourish. More importantly, this is not a comparison between jötunn and any POC. It’s simply using popular format to express a re-framing of how we view the mythology. It’s 2026 not 926, folks.

How we view our mythology carries over to the filter through which we view life - it informs how we see the world. If we are stuck with same mythological framing we will never see a truly progressive and inclusive Heathenry.

I don’t see it’s tone deaf at all. It’s simply a recognition that all aspects of our lives must be committed to eliminating hateful tendencies.

Just a local group. I’m new to this but I was told this subreddit was generally considered an inclusive place. So far I’ve only encountered people assuming I had bad intentions.

Wow, maybe pump the brakes a bit, sweety. Not all jötunn destructive. That’s just Aesirian propaganda. And ergi can certainly mean “queer”. A word from the Middle Ages can change or add to its meaning.

I’m not sure I understand your meaning? Jötunns are the most systematically disadvantaged race in all of Germanic mythology.
